Im replacing the standard Parcel Shelf this weekend, so what Thickness MDF to use? 12-15mm?? Also, i had a quick look in the nearest Hardware store and all their mdf sheets seemed to be too small or too big ($18 for one too small, $50 for one that will work but is too big) What size sheet have you guys bought?? 1500x400?? Or better still, does anyone know the dimensions of the old Parcel Shelf?? (i dont have my car atm)

Find a mate who is a cabinet maker, you'd be suprised what you can get for free or very cheap. And if they are as nice as my mate, they will even cut it the right size for you

Bunnings mate 12mm sheet, way too big for what you need, but it cost me like $18 or somfin .. cut it with a jigsaw using your old one to trace a template on it .. very nice, and you get MDF left over to make pods or somfin with (autospeed.com.au have a good guide on this, btw)
Very easy job really .. made one myself .. 12mm MDF, cut to suit, fitted to car, trimmed to fit exact (i had some overhanging where the seat goes, despite being a pretty exact trace .. then carpeted with black auto carpet (again, bunnings) .. looks great

me and my mates used 22mm i think it was or something we just go crazy lol...
also i think we have 1 thats 15mm also both made out of MDF
yeah just use your old self to make a template and then your set cut it put it in to see if its a nice fit. Also if your puting in 6x9's or what ever you have dont make the holes too big coz you want them to sit in nice not loose.. then put what ever over the top of it and you will be set..
when i get my self all done up everthing i'll post some pics of it on here

jughead, nah didnt at all all we did was use the jigsraw on the side to put it perfect and it fitted in very well night tright fit first go...
before we even did the holes for my 6x9's we first made sure it fitted in and then got in the boot and drew a circle underneth it and then went in got the shape of the 6x9's and then cut it and job was done went back put the 6x9's in the self and put it back in made sure the 6x9's fitted it right and then took it all out and its just got black spary paint on it at this point in time but i will hope to have it all finished tomorrow night when i get my car back
*fingers crossed*

03-03-03, 17:39 GMT+10#11 maybe if i angle it off a tad both sides. cuz i dun wanna go thinner than 12mm for main part of parcel shelf and i need 12mm for top layer otherwise it wont cover the tweeters in the speakers (ill get a couple of wierd bumps in the speaker mesh :P)
