O.K I have a Series 2 VL Calais. I don't have a users manual and was wondering were the Antitheft system is and how do I activate it?!? I noticed a extra horn in the engine bay near the strut towers....is that the larm for it? I also noticed a lock in the glove box...my normal key won open it....does anybody know what this is for? BTW I can't really look at my car for the next few weeks....hit a animal at 110km/h and tore up the front end spun me round and I put me back end into a wall :? I only had the Car 9 days...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I wazs the F**king idiot who locked it up.......*sigh* Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

ok well the key in the glove box is the imobiliser reset switch, u need an imobiliser key for that, and ur alarm should be a seperate horn somewhere for the alarm sound. and you should have got a big old keyless entry button to lock and turn the alarm on and off These where a cobra alarm factory for Holden Richie

Yeh got the factory cobra alarm as well, but I thought that it was only covering (protecting) the doors, boot and trunkno imobiliser-so is there one as well??! I also noticed the extra horn just behind the bumper bar, btw there are two of them!!

Yer Fly by vl, The factory cobra alarm has an imobiliser, You will find a lock in the glove box up the top next to the boot release, this is the imobilser / alarm reset switch. Actually my alarm has been playing up lately and the imobiliser might sometimes kick in when i am driving, not cool at all. Richie

So how do you know when the imobiliser is activated, whenever you switch on your alarm (look the car with the remote)?! Also, I dont think i got a key for the imobiliser, do you think it is possible to just change the look for a button and place it somewhere else?! And by the way, how exactly does an imobiliser work, I know it stops the c*nts from driving your car but how? ops: :? Last questionI promises (for now lol) , does the factory alarm have an input, so I can ad things like shock sensor,.to it?! Thanx!!! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the factory alarm is basic - no inputs. the immobiliser works by cutting power to the ignition or fuel pump relays. the two horns behind the front bar are std on a calais and the horn in the engine bay is for the alarm.

I got a brand new remote for my alarm system a while back and I didn't get any with my car so all you need to do is take the top off the dash and on the immobiliser which is on the top left of the dash there is an XA, XB or XC number followed by 4 numbers. Ring the Cobra alarm place (02) 93194000 and tell them the letters and numbers and they will make you one up for around $85 delivered. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the way i see it the only real downside of the stock alarm is that key setup in the glovebox, everyone knows where it is, it does immobilise the car and the alarm unit is very hard to get to.

Fly By Vl you can bypass the lock, there is four wires going into the lock, (two redy pink wires and two black wires) The two red wires when joined together will disable the imobiliser and disconect the alarm circut. The two black wires when together will enable the alarm/imobiliser to be activated via the keyless and allow u to turn alarm/imobiliser on and off via keyless. And when there are no wires from either pair connected then the imobiliser is set of and u are obviously unable to start car. So just have two switches, one for each pair and only have one turned on at a time, locate the switches somewhere and your done. (you will need to get a keyless remote made up if u dont have one) Only have one circut (coloured wires) connected at a time for obvious reasons! Richie

The alarm should be part of the factory security system.

Calais should have two horns on or near the front bumper bar. Also they should have a seperate horn for the alarm in the engine bay near the L/H strut tower.

i have an aftermarket alarm and i had the negative battery terminal disconnected to do some things. when i opened the door the alarm went off and then one of the immobilisers killed the fuel pump and spark and a weird led that never flashes was flashing. i found the led behind the dash and stuck it out ages ago to see if it ever flashed or what it was but never did it never did anything. wouldnt respond to the remote at all. so i dug up the old bunch of keys i got from the owner and eventually found one that fit the lock in the glove box and then i could start the car. is that the old alarm activating for some reason? or is that part of the laserline.
