Quick :?: there is no way of telling if it is an originally walky by just looking at it if it has the full bodykit and motor and etc etc apart from looking at the build number correct cause my brother inlaw has got one but i never looked for the build number where abouts would it be :?: for i will look next time i go there.

There's a plastic badge on the glovebox lid showing the car's build number and also a HSV build plate on the firewall showing the number.

The build No. is on the dash, but check there are 2 HSV plates under the bonet. On the drivers side it will have the build No. as well, and this should match the No. on the dash. The build date will be here, it should be 1988, from March to November I think, and the model should be GRPASS. This plate should also have the chassis No. On the passenger side there is another plate, and this contains the HSV tag No., which is the most important. It is a 6 didgit No., starting and ending with a letter. Ring HSV on (03) 9265 9500 and give them the engine No., Tag No., Chassis No., and build No. and they will tell you straight away if it is original. You can buy a certificate of authenticity for $50 too.

I have heard of a few. Considering you are paying $25-30k for a 15 year old car that ordinarily would be worth about $10k, I am sure taking 1 minute to wright down a few numbers and spending less than $1 on a phone call to Melbourne is worth it to protect your investment. I agree that there is probably only a few exact replicas, but I dare say there are a few going around with different blocks in them, which significantly reduces the price of an original.

There isn't a REVS type identity check website in your state? Do a search for that sort of thing and see what you come up with, as there are site's where you punch in all the car's detail's, and it give's you some info on it.

What does the registration paper say on it anyway?

The rego papers for a Walkinshaw generally just have a 1988 Holden Commodore, they do in NSW anyway.

Check the build numbers are there and match, and ring HSV as has been said.... thats the best way.. And when you find out if its real or not, e-mail me [email removed] and I'll put the info on the site... Make sure you include, the build no, Rego and State and the persons who owns it.. or if you dont' want their name displayed let me know...

Keep that all in mind before buying one
