hey guys, i havnt been on here for ages but now i'm back i have some questions. today i went to an auto specialist to get some prices about rebuilding my auto, the prices are as follows: around $1100 to get the auto strengthened with more clutches put in and other stuff tightened to make it shift harder : and around $400 for a 3200 stall are these prices reasonable?, the guy is a top bloke and knows what he is on about he has done friends cars with no hassels but i am unsure what sort of power this could handle and if anyone has had the same sort of rebuild then how good does your car go and how much power is yours handling? i know jack crap about auto's and am wondering about other peoples experiences. this has probably been asked before but i cant be bothered searching for old posts. thanx all.

For that kind of expenditure, I wouldn't be expecting too much. When mine was an auto I spent just over 2k tricking my Jatco up. Went with Torrington bearings, special clutches, and all kinds of other tricks to get it stronger and shifting harder. Yeah it shifted harder, and yes it was stronger - but still not strong enough. If you're spending half what I spent, then unless your engine is making near-stock power levels I reckon you might have some problems... which is just one of the many reasons I've gone manual now.

Just browsing through your site .... how long did the standard MX7 stand up to that sort of harrasment before it threw the towel in? BTW ... Love what you've done with the seats and the dash looks awesome against the teal coloured interior. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Thanks for the compliments man! As for the MX7 - it NEVER threw the towel in - tough as. It was the Jatco automatic that threw the towel in. No real harrassment either - I try to treat the car with some respect.
