with the cost of those mods and the sale of your VK, you could buy a VN v6. but anyway, the 5 speed conversion i believe will do most of the catch upto the v6 but the cost of the conversion wouldnt be worth it i reckon.

sell the vk and buy a 5 speed VL. even in NA from, with minor tweaking you can get 96kw at the rear wheels, which is more than enough to cream a v6 vn.

Why do people bother 'doing up' Commodore 6ers? They go no where, regardless what you do to them. If you're gonna get 6 cyl, get yourself a 5speed 6cylinder EB Falcon. You'll not only beat VN V6's, but you will beat _any_ commodore V6. Please mate, do yourself a favour and don't spend another cent on that VK.

Now Now Jay, everyone has a right to a diminished thought capacity... including Sleaze here. Sleaze mate, if you don't like VL's or for that matter any commodore, try www.fordforums.com Your holden bashing comments are not welcome here.

my n/a 5spd vl was able to knock off both the ea and eb falcons... the 2 ppl i raced properly i knew were both eb's.. one manual, one auto.... the auto actually gave me a better run... i still had a car length on him by the time the speed limit was reached

EB series 2 Falcon was ****ing awesome. It smacked with low rpm torque and sort of light weight. My VL would have never have kept up when it was standard. There was i guy that lived down the street from me that had an EB XR6 that i thought was a worked V8. It is possible for the Ford inline 6 to hit 130rwkw. Street Machine did a build up of a VK efi and got something like 140kw out of the engine. Find those magazines they spend some time dynoing and not heaps of money! You forgot to put tuned length extractors on your list Anyway if you really like your car, it is possible. Although i fully laughed at VN V6's with just extractors and a high flow cat in my VL. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

water jackets are too thin and if u use the wrong coolant (or if it just wants to) electrolysis will eat through them - bye bye head... so I was told on good authority

I have had an "Official" drag with an EB falcon in my auto na VL. When I say official i mean it was at the runs and there was a starter....so none of this "hey man ur stupid he probably wasnt even racing..." Anyway at the time my only mod was Advanced timing, and by the end of the 1/4 mile I had 5-6 car lengths on this thing and it never looked like keeping up.... I have also just beaten an AU in my NA Auto VL ....with minor mods. The new XR6 is the only ford i will give any commendation, and the old XY-GTHO which would still munch alot of VL turbos....no offence, just proving im not biased.

stew we're all holden fans here but a 4ltr falcon motor from the EL up arent slugs at all, my dads had company falcons and commodores and out of the holden v6 and the ford inline, theres no comparison. and the 4ltr has a ****load of torque, just check out the summernats, winner of standard six being supercharged.
