As the topic title says, I replaced the computer on my VL, and now its gutless. It doesn't kickback or nothing. My mate who had a VL reckons its bcoz my VL hasn't been driven properly for around 4 months, it has only been taken around the block a few times.

On a serious note try clearing the codes........ this is done as follows... 1)With the ignition On, turn the mode selector on the control unit fully clockwise for at least 2 seconds. 2)Turn the mode selector fully anti clockwise for at least 2 seconds. 3)Turn the ignition Off If it goes back into limp mode then you obiviously have a fault that lies elsewhere. To extract codes do as follows- 1) Remove the left-hand kick panel and carefully turn the node selector on the ECU fully anti-clockwise. 2) Turn the ignition On and ensure that the LEDs are alight 3) If the LEDs are not alight, check the continuity of the ECU power and earth circuits. If the power supply and earth are satisfactory, renew the ECU. 4) Carefully turn the selector fully clockwise. 5) Start the engine and allow it to idle. If the engine cannot be started, operate the starter for at least 2 seconds to cancel code 32 and proceed to step 9. 6) If the engine will start codes 14, 23, 24 and 31 (non air-conditioned) or 44 (air-conditioned) should be displayed, along with any other codes in memory. 7) Drive the vehicle at a speed greater than 10km/h to cancel code 14. 8) Stop the engine and turn the ignition switch to the On position. 9) Depress and release the throttle pedal to cancel code 23. 10) Move the transmission selector to any gear and back to neutral to cancel code 24. 11) On vehicles with air conditioning, turn the air conditioning switch On and Off to cancel code 31. 12) If any codes other than 31 (non air-conditioned) or 44 (air-conditioned) are displayed, check the components affecting the operation of the circuit indicated under that code number. Codes are as follows 11 Crank angle sensor circuit 12 Air mass sensor circuit 13 Coolant temperature sensor circuit 14 Vehicle speed sensor circuit 21 Ignition signal 23 Throttle position sensor circuit 24 Neutral switch 31 System pass (non air conditioned vehicle), air conditioner circuit(air conditioned vehicles) 32 Starter signal circuit 34 Detonation sensor circuit (Turbo models) 44 System pass (air conditioned vehicle) Good Luck with it all, someone should really make a sticky thread with this info or maybe even do up a fact sheet in CalaisTurbo.com. Cheers Jake

Rip off the kick panel and you'll soon work it out, if it really is in limp mode then you wont solve the problem any other way. Try and be more specific about the faults and it'll make it heaps easier too help, many things can cause a lack of power. Jake.

Sorry buddy ops: I forgot to mention an important part........... My bad 8O You read the codes like this.......... The self diagnosis codes are displayed by a series of flashes from a red and a green "light emitting diode" (LED) on the side of the ECU> The red LED represents tens, the green LED represents ones. To sus out the code number, count the number of flashes of the LEDS. For example, if 3 flashes of the red LED were followed by 1 flash of the green LED, code 31 (system pass, non air-conditioned vehicle) is indicated. If more than one fault is in memory, the codes will be displayed in numerical order, followed by a pause and the sequence repeated. Jake. Its not hard once you get into it, have a go then you'll learn something new, not to mention handy. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Damn I did my code 2 times today and it gave codes as follows 23 - Throttle Sensor Switch 24 - Neutral Switch 31 - Air Conditioner and kept looping over and over with these 3 but I dont know why it wasnt displaying 14 - Speed Sensor Circuit Any1 got any Ideas?? Besides this the car runs fine and Oh I tried this with 2 ECU's and got same results

maybe it wasn't the computer that was the problem? why did you replace it?

What is it with reviving old threads. did you depress the throttle and all the other stuff you've gotta do to cancel those codes? If it's not affecting the driveability of the car I wouldn't be too concerned.

Ancient thread but yeah, JET-6 is right. No limp home mode, 23, 24, 31 are BS codes, just cancel them out. As spOOnfed said, if it's not running rough don't worry about it. Few people use the Nissan diagnostics anyway. Nothing like the delco ALDL in the newer Commodores.
