Hey Was wondering wot people think will b the winning HP in the 6Cyl Turbo class at the next Nats?? The year just gone was bout 500rwhp, does ne1 think it will go ova 700?? Im gettin a combo built that should produce a few BIG numbers n im hopin to put up a good fight for the title in that class. Mine should make close to 700-800rwhp once done Wot manufacture do u think will win it?? Nissan, Toyota, Ford, Holden?? Cheers Troy

It pretty much come's down to a VL Turbo or an R32/33 Skyline of some sort rocking up. There's alway's talk of some big gun showing up every year, but as alway's, it never eventuates.

dont think it will be a ford, simply because they havent had much time to develop the new engine if its a holden it'll almost defintely be an RB30 holden, so I doubt that counts so nissan I reckon.

If I was planning to show i'd keep it under wrap's until I was there, as there have been guy's that have prepared even from the previous year (!), but strike bad luck with the car when test dyno run's are made leading up to the event

I reckon we should see over 700 - I cant see any reason why not - its not uncommon in Japan to see 1000rwhp from an RB, yanks are getting crazy numbers from 2JZ's - what are us Aussies doing? Is it open to AWD or is that another class? GTR700 is supposedly putting out well over 1000HP at the fly - would like to see that on a dyno but doubt we ever would. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Quote: I personally think it will b a Toyota that wins, pobably a 2JZ, the integrity of the RB30 is stretched past 800flywheel (600rwhp) Seeing as we've got VL Turbo's already running 8/9 second passes and punching power way over that, i'd say that it has been overcome man.

Yes it probably has been overcome but they r gettin those figures on race fuel, not pump fuel n u can only run pump in all the classes this year I wanna c a VL win it this year but i dont think it will b n RB30 Cheers Troy

TroyVK - This isnt directed at you in any way its more of a broad general statement. My 2c - A car with 600+ RWHP doesnt mean a thing if it doesnt show up or fails to roll out those numbers on the day. Summernats 15, Matt of PSI03L fame ran a huge number but was unfortunately beaten by a Skyline (credit to the Skyline owner, Im just VL partial) in the 6cyl Blown Class. Then all these guys started talking about Summernats 16 and making bold claims about power output etc. This no doubt scared off many who would have entered otherwise. On the actual day of the event, where were all these monster 6's that were supposedly coming out from the woodwork? Not there thats for sure. Sure Nizpro can screw together a 900+hp RB30 block (couple issues back of Zoom) but unless that engine finds its way into a car and that car competes then someone else with less/more HP is going to win. Like INFLYT said, just a case of best man on the day. TroyVK, I wish you luck in your quest to be 6cyl HP Heroes champion. Anyone competing for that matter.... ...Unless you drive a Honda or a BMW. J/K Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Quote: OUt of interest does ne1 know if ne1 here in OZ has pulled 1000rwhp in a 6 on PUMP fuel yet?? It hasn't happened and doesn't look like it's gonna happen on fuel that is under 100 octane.

U maybe right there but then every1 thought that 1000rwhp from n 8 couldnt b done on PUMP fuel n both Brett n Eddy hav shown ova 1300rwhp can b done n i think it will keep going up to bout 1500 I would say its a pretty much certainty that 1500rwhp will b done at the Nats coming up I hope 1000rw on PUMP can b acheived cause thats wot im aiming at.... Cheers Troy

I think 1000rwhp coud be acheived from a 6cyl if the block and the headgasket held together. I personnally would go for a Trust T88-34D with 30lb+ of boost but have the engine compression way down so you could cram a lot more boost through. But hey, thats just me.

Eddy Tassone said, "I'm not going back to Summernats until I have 1800hp at the tyres." What a mad man.

Quote: I hope 1000rw on PUMP can b acheived cause thats wot im aiming at.... Yeah but you just have to keep in mind champ, these guy's may be able to produce these number's infront of your face, but after the show is over, they go back to their workshop's for an engine freshen and replace all the part's that broke. Can you afford to maintain your car in this way?

INFLYT: so true. How many times have you heard/read stories of entrants replacing blown turbos, gearboxes and late nights at actual Summernats, only to try and win HP Heroes? These motors are on the brink of destruction at this power levels, and although the cost to build one initially may not be great, rebuilding and fixing broken parts along the way adds to the cost in a big way. Also, a majority of these HPH cars are owned/maintained by workshop workers and owners, who don't usually have to factor in labour costs to building and maintaining such a killer engine. On the other hand, 1000 rwhp on PULP will eventually happen, just depends when. TroyVK: Good luck with your quest. 1000 rwhp is some serious VLT mumbo!
