U'r car is obviously running rich. This isn't really a common problem on N/A's, but it will cause excessive fuel consumption, fouled plugs and loss of performance. Give the Coolent Temp Sensor a good clean on both itself and the plug using WD40 and very fine sand paper. Hopefully this will cure your problem, if not clean other sensors such as the AFM until you solve the problem. Here is a pic with the location of the CTS. Cheers Ollie Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

To basically explain how it works... If the sensor is fouled up and not making correct readings to the computer the car will run assuming its cold and will run in choke mode all the time therefor running too much fuel to the cylinder and making the black smoke. Thats my way of explaining it, if anyone cares to elaborate on it, go for it.

Have u checked your fuel pressure ? If their is alot of fuel pressure could be the Fuel regualtor. Pull out your spark plugs and check them if they are black then its definitely running Rich. My NA VL was running rich due to a faulty fuel regualtor, kept killing 8O my injectors with so much fuel pressure the poor things couldnt handle it  I change the Sensor illustrated by Exchaser, made no difference. Man my bitch was running rich u could just smell fuel when u drove it  made me get high on it 8O

I can smell fuel sometimes. Is it normal to cover people in a large cloud of black **** when you boost away in a vLT?

if its a turbo every turbo car will dump a lot of fuel when u give it heaps , so almost every car will have a bit of black smoke , excess fuel burn. although if ur smokin heaps then it sounds as though u are runnin heaps rich , and probably is a problem
