Well then, with Nitr0, thats two strathfield employees that say Boss Audio is ****. And I don't really like MTX gear either, but thats only the 4000's I've heard. The 6000's are supposed to be pretty good. But go kicker... sounds better.

Even though I'm not an MTX fan, I'd take any MTX gear over any Boss **** anyday... Everytime someone tells me that Boss is good quality, I laugh at them... Kicker however is excellent...

boss amps are of better quality than their speakers and subs, and are very good value for money. i assume this is what he is talking about

I have a Boss 1000 watt amp connected to 2 x 12" JBL subs
and the JBL 6 1/2 inch splits
and it is plenty powerful enough
their other gear i would stear clear of though

boss amps are good? are you for real?? they are GROSSLY overrated on there power ratings... the "1000 watt" boss amp i used to have was about 75wrms per channel... boss gear is cheap and nasty... nuff sed... save ya cash and get something you will be happy with in the future... buy once, but right. dont buy something because its cheaper... you'll regret it.
The MTX 6000 is nice, will sound soo much better than anything boss make... have a look and compare them not in enclosures... build quality, weight, just the look.. not even comparable.

Oh no, Mick13B, where do i start? The 1000 watts listed on the front of the box is referring to maximum power, not continuous power. And paying about $350 for a 4x75wrms amp is ****in great. Most boss gear is cheap and nasty, but their amps offer great value for money, they are NOT nasty. But just to clarify, I did say value for money. Price aside, a kicker amp or something like it will offer cleaner power than a Boss, but for subs, clean power is not important unless you're aiming for absolute supremecy of sound quality, to the degree of a $6000+ system.
As for comparing build quality by looking at subs, I'm gonna laugh at you when someone does compare a Boss sub and an MTX and choose the Boss based on weight and looks. Boss subs look pretty damn good. But the trick is, you can't see what really counts! How can you compare subs on a visual basis when you can't even see the voice coil or internal magnet structure? And what if a sub was to use neodimium magnets circling the voice coil instead of a strontium magnet attached to the base plate, like normal subs? The Neo mag will weigh HEAPS less, but can handle more power! Listen to subs to decide how good they are, don't just look at them and feel their weight. All that said, I'd still go the MTX 6000 over Boss.

ooo max power rating...it has no basis, and is used to suck people who get dazzled by the big numbers on the box into buying crap that they would never buy if it said 4x75 wrms on it... its misleading, and i've always thought it should be banned...its false advertising... the actual usable power rating should be displayed...
$375 for a 4x75 is great value? im glad your not buying a system for me...for $399 you can get a Re/Sponse 4x100wrms...
an amp that advertises its real power rating, not its made up max power rating immediately deserves more respect...
Just coz its sold at Strathfield Car Radios people think it must be good...
so your saying, the build quality of a boss sub is superior to that of an mtx sub? of course you listen to it...your not buying something to look pretty...its to sound good... ive bought, and blown my share of dodgy tornado and the like subs, build quality counts for a lot...

Mick, i've pretty much given up arguing with burgandy about the quality of BOSS audio gear. If in his opinion, he thinks its good gear then he has the right to that opinion. But i have to agree about the power ratings, I dont think Boss even advertise the RMS ratings anywhere on their boxes do they? I wonder why that is??
In response to the original question definately go with the MTX sub, will blow boss audio away. Also look around, you can pick up subs other than those 2 for the same price. How much is the 15"?? aroud $300. U can get a PG tantrum 15" DVC sub for $280, will sound better than the MTX for sure and there is no comparison with the Boss subs. Dont limit yourself only to the gear Strathfield sells.

Guys, you aren't listening to what I'm saying... I never said the build quality of Boss was better than MTX, I just said that you can't tell just by looking at them or weighing them. And as for max power ratings, just about all brands including Pioneer, Alpine, etc whack their max power figures on the box. And as for jaycar amps, while they are pretty good value for money, they can't handle loads very well. Their 2 ohm operation leaves much to be desired.

my respect goes to amps that perform well, not have honest boxes. Not saying that Jaycar apms are ****e, but the onle you're talking about about $120 more expensive than the BA1000 boss amp. BA1000 goes for $329, and the AA0435 jaycar goes for $449. I realise that it's on special for $399 atm, but thats not always the case. And both amps put out similar figures at 2 ohms! (granted the jaycar wins at 4 ohms) I'm not all for Boss gear either, just their amps. But if you can find similar spec'd items for cheaper, then GREAT! buy it! I'm just saying that Boss amps are not ****e.

So they can sell more amps, tht what i reckon, and it damn well works too. Remember VL Commy and Mick13B, there are more people out there who DON'T have your level of audio understanding, and the max power ploy wins everytime for them. But if brands like Audioline and Boss Audio did put their rms levels on the box, they'd still compete well with other amps. Its the quality of power that these amps fall a bit short of their far more expensive competitors. So i wouldn't buy them to power speakers, just woofers.

Is that on special? they're awesome subs! I'd also investigate kicker subs and JL subs.
