just use the standard air box. I've got two friends (one VL n/a the other VSV6) and both had pod filters, and at the dyno found out they gained HP with the stock airbox instead of the pod. It's my belief that pods blow unless you're running high boost.

or stick the pod out through the hole Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

This is true. I'd think it'd be alright if you had a decent computer and didnt have the airflow meter..

Yeah u get a better induction noise for sure with the pod, it is very noticeable. The airbox is designed to stop that noise. For anyone who wants to get that induction noise for free what you can do is turn your AFM upside down and remove the top of the airbox from the base and run the airfilter upside down. You'll have to clip it in somehow so it seals. I once cut up the bottom of the airbox so that i could use part of it to clip the airfilter in and put a mesh screen over the panel filter, looked and sounded cool, but ive since opted for K&N panel filter in standard airbox + CAI.

i have a pod and im about to go back to box and cai (i need all the bolts...) but im not happy about losing the sound of it. its pretty loud when you back off on full boost. but unfortunately it gets too sluggish after 10-15 mins of driving as the engine bay heats up.

i had a pod on for a while and while it sounded a little better, the air box witha cold air induction pipe gave better performance jeffo Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Make an enclosure for your pod.

The airbox will give you better performance but it will sacrifice the sound. Cooler bounce is more audiable on 6psi with a pod, than 12psi with an airbox. So if you after noise pods the go. I think the best would be cold air induction with a sealed off area for the pod, in an actual box. if you want to get fancy, you could use a perspex box to keep that enginebay tidy appeal.

heya's my bro's n/a calais has a POD filter and it sound mad, also i reckon it better, but due to the fact that his is under the guard so it's all cold, he has extention pipes to extend the intake. sounds mad, i'm consideringm doin this to mine, which currently is a stock airbox with coldair intake...doesn't do much!!

i,m with choice bro on this one make an enclosuer for your pod airbox good for lowdown torque but found on my car lost to pod under high boost in the higher rpm . sedately boosted or na would be better off with air box though .

Went to Petroject at Windsor today asked about the pod filters. Apparantly they are perfectly legal whilst not enclosed, so long as they remain inside the confines of your engine bay. K&N Filters got sold and now the owner has a new company and a new design of air filters thats about 40% more effective. The new filters are pod design also but are made of a few layers of surgical grade cotton held together by a fine steel mesh. These ones are wait for it.. WASHABLE... but only if you use their washing solution. Might check them out in better detail next time. Look for J&R Pod filters. www.needforspeed.com.au

Bitten.... who did you talk to at Petroject?? John knows his stuff down there, Ray is also very very clued up about them. Everyone in the office use JR Filters (Petroject are a good client of work) and we all swear by them... better than a K&N.
