Just get a brand name alarm, when it comes down to it anything around about the $300 or so dollar mark will be decent. Don't worry too much about the locks 1/2 the time they'll just break your window anyway  and invest in a club lock for the steering wheel (or to beat whoever is stealing it, either way ). If you're leaving it parked on the street for a longish time (like a few days while you're on holiday or something) take something important with you - upplug the CAS and take a lead or something But, just be careful where you park it, and don't leave anything in it overnight, leave your glove box open as to reveal it's emptyness ... otherwise the buggers will break in just to make sure you havn't stashed away 30 cd's, your oakly's and possibly a PS2 ( 8O :? )... but yeh just make sure you know where your car is and don't let it out of your site heh. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

my old vl got stolen and wrecked so in the new one i sacrificed wheels and a bigger turbo so i could get a qiktrak... it was $1800 but with third party property and the loss of my old car i would rather spend that than lose the $10,000 i have spent on the new car

Do the car alarm companys provide some sort ot guarantee that if your car IS stolen while protected with one of their systems... that thyell give you a fist full of cash. I know that if you buy a certain brand of surge protector for your computer and a spike kills it... they buy you a new one.. and this is your hom epc.. not ECU

Get the most expensive CLUB lock you can find. Kids steal commodores, Kids can't break Premium Club Locks. Then get an Alarm with a 3 point immobiliser. Also VLs will start with AFM unplugged but they aint gonna go anywhere. If you are really worried take your rotor cap out. Theyd have to really want your car to get it started with a missing rotor cap. If professional thieves want your car though they will get it. So not advertising that you have a Nizpro plenum with Turbonetics T04 and wolf 3d is with avo stage 4 intercooler is the best way to save your car. Dont get a set of 17s 18s or 19s then park it down woolies all day...it will be gone. Club has a fist o' cash guarantee warranty thing.

club offers i believe a measly $500 if you car get's taken with a clublock on.(and you'll probably have to prove it was on)and kids can easily get around clublock's,just get some boltcutter's on the steering wheel. get an alarm with 3 point immobiliser's and a clublock.and don't park down dark dodgy lane's.

Look. It is very simple. No alrm system will ever stop your car from being broken into. THAT SIMPLE. The only safe measure is a locked car garage at home and security parking when out. I know of, and have spoken to people who just laugh when they here how much money some one has wasted on car security, as it can be overcome, especially if you then park you car in a very stupid spot.

Quote: Look. It is very simple. No alrm system will ever stop your car from being broken into. THAT SIMPLE. thats a stupid way to look at it. with no alarm system any 14 year old can walk up to your car stick a screw driver in the lock and get it open and then hotwire your car and drive away all in a max of 1 minute with a minimal amount of know-how. if you have a decent alarm and immobiliser and a lock on your gearstick and a club lock on your steering wheel they will probably set the alarm off first because they wont expect it to have one. then if they can get that off they have to get past the immobiliser, then the gearstick lock, then the steering wheel lock. if you have a dialler on your alarm your phone is already telling you the alarm went off and you are on your way with a big bat. sure the pros will get it but its ****en stupid to think that you might as well throw your arms in the air and give up. not everyone has a garage and a lot of people use their car everyday to go to the shops and things (myself included) and are looking for ways to make their car harder to steal, not unstealable.

I'm sure I've read in the PF forums about someone taking ECU unit with them whenever they know that they're gunna park the car for an extended period of time. The system I'd love in my car is both a primary and secondary alarm/iginition kill combination. Secondary one being on a 30 second delay, so they get as far as the first set of lights and thing just suddenly stops and then starts going ape **** again.

The alarm's that alert you by ringing your mobile wouldn't be a bad way to go about it. But if that phone ring's, you'll need to grow some ball's and run to that car, fast!

i have a hidden kill switch in my car, along with club lock. If i go anywhere for a period of time i reckon unplugging cas or pulling a relay out etc are good things to do.
