First time post, so be gentle on the young one. I am soon to be getting "hopefully" around 13 grand from the parental units aka "my personal bank", and am looking at getting a VL turbo. Now i haven't really looked much at ones for sale at the moment, but was wondering what i could except in modifications and condition for around the 11 - 13 grand mark. I really want a manual, and prefer a calais, and something that will be beat those annoying gemini turbo's that seem to pop up at the lights beside you. Will be buying in june or july, so anyone who is selling or planning to sell around then let me know.
:twisted: Thank You

yeah u should have the money to buy a manual calais turbo.. but finding one could be a little harder. for 13 grand on a calais ide say ud be looking at quite a few mods.. zorst,cooler,adjustable boost,lsd, maybe after market ecu.. be patient to find the best one though. a while back my mate was just about to sell his manual calais turbo for 13 or 14 grand then he wrote it off. it had custom plenum,adjustable boost, HUGE PWR cooler, microtech, extra injector and the full suspension set up(coil overs the works) with all work done at sub zero. car made about 300rwhp, and was an absolutely imaculate blue calais. hope thats a help.

Well my mate was selling his LE for $10k so yeah, an LE is possible.
Is that up to $13k you've got to spend? Cause if so, that mean's you could be looking for VL's up to $15k and working the price down with a bit of negotiation.

dude an LE is gooood. lol i dont rekon you should have toooo much trouble finding a calais turbo, umm maybe a manual will b a bit harder but hey if u pik one up for a little under 10 grand then u've got a bit to convert it then maybe even boost it, just to rub it in on those little freakin turbo geminis!
good luk buddy

LE = Limited Edition champ.
These came out in a full colour scheme, not two tone like an average Calais. They had a mild HDT bodykit fitted and Momo Star wheel's. Various option's were available for them such as a Polariser, Scheel Interior etc.
Have a look on the site as there's a few featured down the left side there.

07-04-03, 19:28 GMT+10#10 and remember if u have 13 grand all up to spend ur best to look for cars for about 12 grand to leave enough for transfer of rego and insurance prices... i know plenty of ppl that have fallen into that trap.

08-04-03, 09:56 GMT+10#13 depends dude, if ure lookin at fully comp then ure in the **** coz it will cost u heaps, probably like 2500 a year, i know this cos i looked art doing my first car not long ago fully comp and it came up to 1200 a year.
so if u really want insurance i rekon u might as well take the risk and get 3rd party fire and theft.
good luk with it dude

It's all original, except 2.5" exhaust from cat back.

09-04-03, 10:03 GMT+10#17 Make sure if you get a manual calais, that it could have the MX5 box in it. Some people cant be bothered putting the right box in when they convert as they are expensive and hard to get. ask em to show you an old clutch plate if they still have it. if it measures 10 inch you are in with a winner ( providing that is not an old plate from their mates car)
EDIT Read the text properly.

09-04-03, 16:02 GMT+10#18 It's no wonder why there's so many VL Turbo's running around without any full insurance

09-04-03, 18:40 GMT+10#20 Man, insurance companies suck. They like to rip people off, and its not like we have much of a choice in the matter. Of course we could drive round wit no insurance, and take the risk of not hitting a mercedes, or getting it stolen. I say we should revolt against these companies, and start our own insurance company "SIK VL TURBO INSURANCE", no matter what the mods, how much the stereo, or how old u r, one flat rate of $1 per day. Of course with funding from our Kind PM Mr John Howard, cuz we all know he has a secret passion for VLT . Anywayz, whats the running cost on the VLT, are the expensive to run and maintain, is it a wise choice for an 18 year old.
