OK, l may have cracked the head on my vl RB30E and i'm just seeing what options i have, i was wondering about performance heads, what benifits can i get from them, where can i get them from and for roughly how much? anything to give my NA a bit of an edge... :P

RB26 head would class as a performance head Then theres RB25 of course. But realistically you can only buy another standard one, probably second hand, then recondition it. While you're at it, whack in a cam there's your edge. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

but with a cam, then i would have to get my ecu reprogrammed and that + the cam would be too much i think... if the head is cracked im up for $620, would it be possible to get a head off an RB25 for around that same price? (i wouldn't have a clue how much they are worth)

A mild cam can be ground so it won't upset the computer, a few people on this forum have these. Insane VL has a big cam and no computer mods. RB25 head does not come cheap, all of us want one.

Forget RB25 or RB26, I sussed this out for my skyline and to do a head conversion your looking around $6-8 grand. This includes everything, parts labour, wiring it up etc, but still ****ing expensive! Turbo Tune on south rd (adelaide) did one recently with cams, and got 106 Kw at the wheels. If you want to know more about this send me a message, I've looked into it a fair bit. On the R31's, you can actually put a very mild cam in without changing the computer, maybe this is also the case on a VL???? Check out this article though http://www.r31skylineclub.com/content/articles/twincam.jpg
