problem with custom dash is that it (standard dash) isnt very big (3" ive measured mine) i would get or make some white faced dials and put a but Tacho on the A pillar and some gauges on the bonnet ( all white faced) which would look good. then get some sports seats and you are done

Give me about 1-2 months and my new interior Ive got sitting in the garge will be re-trimmed and installed and my stereo will go in. My custom dash is coming, but Autometer guages arent cheap. Watch this space ok. 8) Andy, who did the re-trim for you. Looks nice. If it was an emergency, could someone sit in the middle (uncomfortably of course)?

it costs a couple of hundred dollars , theres heaps of foam that has been bolstered to it , also its original vl calais grey velour which is pricey. it is hell comfy , if only i didnt have to drive the farkin thing id be in there more often. fotos really dont do it justice , u gotta see it and sit in it to get the feel of it. pete - yeah i can pull the sealt belts up from under it and a 3rd person can sit in there.

yea i put the whole interior in myself.......it cost me $500 for the whole interior from seats and dash to roof lining, and was in A1 condition as the VK was owned by an old guy whos son took it out for a night and pranged it....only 130000 on the clock

I can and I will... once I do it. I havent gotten that far ahead yet in the build. Basically I am getting a 5" tach & the 5" speedo that reads 260KP/H (non of this MPH crap, this is Australia after all). They will be mounted where the current instrument cluster is. depending on room and whether or not I will have to get a custom fibreglass facia cover made, I would like to squeeze a fuel guage and maybe a temp guage there too, the tiny little autometer 2inch guages that is. The rest of the guages I am going to put down in the little crevice thingy under the ashtray in the dash (its a Berlina/calais center console). Getting a fibreglass mounting cup holder made up that slots in and lets me face 2 or hopefully 3 guages (oil pressure, volts, fuel pressure) towards me at an angle. I actually want this center part done asap, the speedo and tacho can wait a while due to their price. I willg et them next time I am in the USA as they are less than half the rpice of over here even after youdo the currency conversion. Oh yeah, boost gauge and AFR guage in a Pillar Pod on the drivers A Pillar, colour coded of course. Sorry for the long answer. Its kind of hard to describe, probably harder to imagine. If I could draw a diagram and upload I would, but I cant. you will jsut have to wait for pics to be taken after its done. Will post em whenver its finsished, stage by stage. Hopefully the interior should be in - minus speedo, tacho - in no more than 2 months.

Yeah sorry forgot about the warning lights. That can be done by buying new lights that are just coloured ie. red, green, blue etc. or by having the warning light rack cut and grafted into the new dash. Its up to you how complicated you want to make it. Thats why God invented Auto Electricians though. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
