I have a Skyline with an RB30 in it, iv'e been told that the bottom end of those motors can take around 500HP. Two questions, is that true?, and if it is, will a turbo fit to it without much trouble?

I've heard that the crank in N/A and turbo version are the same (i think?), and when fully prepped are good for 800hp 8O !!. Nizmo in Melb use factory cranks in their cars. All you VL people out there might have something to say about this though.... but im fairly sure im right.

basically the things are the same... except for the pistons.. the series one VL blocks differ fromthe turbo blocks.. however the series 2 blocks are the same. as for the 800hp..... i've never heard of such a thing.. thats a lot of ponies out of a factory cast crank.. compared to most cranks they are usually cast and ballanced well, but not 800hp.. the things that differ are the cam, oil pump, pistons, inlet and exhaust, injectors, computer. but i've heard of guys in the r31 skyline club running a stocko RB30 with a VLT exhaust and turbo bolted onto the side... they slap a few extra injectors somehwere in the line and away we go... good for cheap thrills, but i'd imagine the motor only lasting a couple of thousand k before something going really wrong! i recomend that if your gonna bolt a turbo on the side... get a aftermarket ecu and some VLT injectors at least... oh and don't run much boost... you'll cook a piston! :twisted:
