my knowledge only goes so far and i am still learning so, how do i go about mounting and hooking up the battery in the boot so that i don't have to run expensive 2 guage cable all the way to the battery. ads

either way you will have to end up running 2gauge wire from the front to rear of the car :P unless you have a 2nd battery in the rear and dont charge it! $12.95 a meter too costly??

You'd prolly get away with 4ga wire, but 2ga would be better if you have a high power load (unless thats in the boot too ..) Generally, the method is to take the earth leads in the engine bay, and attach them firmly to the chassis somewhere. Make sure the engine block maintains its good earth connection. In the boot, earth the -ve terminal to the chassis also. The positive lead then runs from the battery in the boot, up to the wires that previously connected to the positive terminal. To do it well, all this wiring in the engine bay would of course be neatly hidden and done cleanly and securely. PerformanceForums had a thread a while back on fusing the power cable and the like .. a tricky issue as the starter motor can pull over 300amps at times, and good luck finding a 300amp capable fuse Theres other issues to consider as well tho, electical aside. These include secure mountings (battery MUST be mounted down securly and cannot move) air breathing issues, unless you use a specialised (read: expensive) type of battery. The general setup generally involves a sealed box bolted in the boot somewhere, with a venting pipe exiting out to the outside air below the car. This allows the battery to breath, and prevents dangerous and toxic fumes entering the car itself. Legally I think you are required to have a sticker on your rear window on the side you place the battery, informing emergency crews where the battery is located, if power is needed to be cut in a hurry. The battery container in the boot must also carry this sticker/symbol. I believe these is also a legal requirement for some form of shut off switch, or at least the ability to disconect power quickly and easily. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I mounted my battery in the boot and ran both cables to the engine bay taking thru the interier of my car. Altoughi have run into problems. HOW BIG does my battery have to be to start this thing. The car is a injected 5ltr but a 11plate wont start it. We tried by putting a 7 plate battery in the engine bay and tapping into the wires and it starts, wats the go
