I was just wondering how thick MDF has to be for a sub box? does it depend on the size of the sub? (2x12" sub) thanks.

Depends on what sorta subs and what sorta power they are using/air displacment, music type etc, Id say 18 or 22mm, I used 26 but the thing was too bloody heavy

I doubt you will need more than 18mm, espicially if its made correctly.

i used 16mm for my box for 2x12" subs which i found was fine. i put a divider in the middle which probably added a fair bit of strength.

the Idea is to get the most rigid construted box as possible. You could use 18, 16, or even 12mm MDF if the box was designed properly. I would suggest thicker over thin, as less bracing (easier construction and design) is needed. with two 12's try to use at least 18mm MDF and a simple centre brace. Staple and glue some wadding and you'll be fine.
