For anyone who doesn't know about the accident at Harry's Diner i was about 30 meters away when it happened, a corvette, 86 model i think pulled out and whipped the ass out, over corrected and whipped it the other way, i guess it finally gripped and sent him into the gutter, this i guess forced the car upwards in which it launched into the crowd of people and landed on the 2 foot ledge nose in the air, from what i heard the ambulance guy saying one person had head injuries and another leg injuries, someone in the crowd said someone was trapped underneath the car and i saw ambulances rushing people to hospital, was anyone else there or does anyone have any more information on this?

happened about 10-10:30 i think, 3 cop cars, 3 towies, 4 ambulances and more were coming and going when i left, they blocked off the lane from the intersection to the top of the hill was a pretty freaky thing to see, all you saw was the car bounce into the air and all these people trying to get out of the way

for anyone interested the car was impounded and the driver wasarrested for dangerous driving

Well he's screwed anyway, i can see people wanting to sue him, not to mention if anyone dies.. then he'll be on manslaughter.

I drove past after work at about midnight, and was just like "holy ****". at least 5 cop cars....naturally with cops everywhere - and a burgandy corvette parked half way up the side of a gutter. my mate was there, but when he told me about it i was very intoxicated hehe :mrgreen: but i think he said the car hit a girl?? could be wrong... but yeh it aint gonna do that place the world of good now or any hot spots.. not that the cops were ever cruisy with them..

the ambulance fella said there were head and leg injuries and apparently there was a decent amount of blood, cops later (the next day) confirmed 2 people went to hospital, a man and woman but both had minor injuries, the car has been impounded and the driver arrested for dangerous driving, unlike somone claims where upwards of 6 people were injured and i also read someone said 2 girls got trapped under the car, bull**** :P , these facts are correct and it was only those 2 who went to hospital

I read on pf, that the driver had an arm in a sling, trying to pull a one-handed burnout... that's going to fire up your government again with all of the strict laws you have over there Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah, apparently he also left the scene and came back, was a nice looking corvette as well tho, and channel sevens news coverage for everyone here who knows how much they love us claimed it was a hoon at a car enthusiasts event, least they didn't say a group of hoons performing illegal activities, i guess

Thats true Julian but did you notice how they called him a Hoon, then proceeded to show bogans mooning the cameraman, screaming out obseneties and using "sign language" to the camera men. Once again, they seize the oporunity to make us all look like a bunch of hoons. Thank you Channel 7, and **** YOU.

well the **** head was a hoon wasn't he you idiots... crashed his car doing a ***in burnout, you don't get much more hoon than that... cops aren't all idiots, they know we aren't all bogan mooning no brainers... if it's those kind of people that hang out at harry's then maybe this is a good thing i dunno... anyway l8r J

From what i've read in other forums and from other sources (not an eyewitness account), is that the driver was possibly drinking (not confirming this one at all, seems to be a topic of discussion as to weather this is real or not), he did have a broken arm in a sling, was exiting harry's. The crowd was egging him on for a burnout. apparently there was quite a bit of crowd on the sides of the road making it hard to see the traffic coming. as he decided to pull out a red commodore was on its way down the road, he planted boot, tyres spun, no brakes (this is classed as a burnout, but usually when i think of that term, i think lots of smoke doing donuts and big statics, which apparently wasnt the case with the corvette, just a bit of wheel spin due to jumping on the throttle and turning the wheel), arse end flicked out, flicked back and over the curb. 2 people injured, 1 girl had blood all over her - taken to hospital with a broken lower leg. not sure on the injuries of the 2nd person. driver fled the scene (most possibly because there was about 200 people there wanting to beat the crap through him), and returned later when cops were there. When the 1st cops arrived and saw how many people were "fleeing" the scene, they called backup for crowd control. THIS IS ONLY WHAT I HAVE PICKED UP FROM OTHER FORUMS AND OTHER SOURCES - I WAS NOT THERE.
