This isn't about a VL but it could well be if converting the transmission. We have fitted a Supra gearbox to a VN v6 and a lot of the local machine shops made a big song & dance about phasing the tailshaft and saying it was a "prick" of a job with the 2 piece tailshaft, telling us they'd only do a full length shaft, they wanted to charge me $185 and were reluctant to take on the job, ##### wanted over $700 to do everything (which they wanted to do). Rod Hadfield who runs the Castlemaine rodshop is charging us $45 - $50 which includes phasing the front section and adding 100 mm onto the overall length, the others either want the balance it as a unit or not to do it at all, also they will only fit a whole new tube. I'd be going to him for everything as everyone else seems to want to rip you off.
