Hey Guys,
I'm throwing this one open to you guys... i wanna try and run 14's in the VS without spending a ****load on a supercharger. AND i don't want to drop a V8 in there unless its a Gen III.
Any suggestions? It runs a 16.1 now, and i'd love to run something like 14.9's
I was thinking porting and polishing the head, exhaust, extractors, K&N and then who knows what else.
The question for you guys... WHAT should i do??
DO NOT SAY ANY OF THE FOLLOWING
- Injected V8 Conversion
- Supercharge it
- Sell it and buy a VLT
- Why bother its a Toyota
All i want to know is what engine work would you recomend to have a 14's car.
sorry rob but i vote for no
my suggestions would be to either
1 - throw an injected 304 in there
2 - put a big huffer on it
3 - get rid of it and get that calais turbo
4 - and mainly dont bother too much as it is a toymotor.
nah kiddin , i know with the right amount of work *cough money cough* then yeah its possible. i know of a vn/p , with the old 3800 and it is in the low 14s and a chickie drives it 8O
1- too much temptation to buy a COME or PAVTEK engine
2- still gonna be running the stock bottom end so too costly
3- don't tempt me
4- Its a toymotor in a holden body
As for the VN that runs 14's thats what i'm aiming for.... and hey, if a chick can do it, any bloke can do it better Plus we all know women can't drive.... (waits for that to be edited)

there was a VR-VS V6 at calder one day and i saw it pull a 13, im pretty sure it wasnt supercharged, got me ****ed what was done to it actually. it blew away a smick VL turbo.. but yeah everything those VL bandits do apart from the turbo, exaust, port and polished heads, beefy injectors, cam and chip set up, you'll be breathing fire in no time. But honestly, do u really want to spend the money?
At the moment i'm actually leaning towards a VT Injected V8.... something that i can play around with and get running quick.
Probably in the next month i'm picking up a ****ty old 308 HQ that i can work on.

Rob, dont supercharge it. They drink fuel like nobodys business and the performance isnt that great for the money it will cost you. If you really want to go overbaord on the 6cyl
1. Buy laughing gas, with all the forementioned engine work, PP, chip etc.
2. Buy a turbo kit for it.
I personally would go the V8 option, call up COME and get their 355 crate motor, its about $6k last I checked. Another thought, since it is already a Toyota (not taking the piss), go and get a Lexus quad cam V8 and drop it in. Its got more HP than the 304/308 in standard from and will rev heaps harder.
Anyways, Im sure you will keep us all apprised.
So far it looks like this will be the order
Chip - done
Cold Air - tomorrow
K&N
Bigger throttle body
Stage 3 turbo spec cam from Commsport
Stage 2 Turbo kit with T4/3 hybrid
Haltech ECU
Yeah it does seem like alot of money but its not something you see every day.
I mean how many VS's do you see with a big mofo front mount, and then hear a T4 spool up and a Turbosmart type 3 go off?
Rob, get the computer done before you add the turbo etc. Even adding and tuning the Haltech now will get you more grunt.
Oh and my 2cents worth here to. For $10k on the engine, I would be demanding an explanation if the car didnt crack at least mid-low 12s or lower.
Here's my opinion (no-offense) but i reckon, sell the car for $10k or whatever its worth, keep the other 10, and buy VLT-06
