depends what kindof music you listen to... if you listen to hiphop/r&b then a 15" is the way to go, but if your into techno, get a fast 12"....

It really depends on how much you want to spend... With lots of dollars involved, a single 15" with LOADS of power can be the puchiest sub you've ever heard. Believe me, 'cause I've heard one with over 1000Wrms goin into it and it was so sharp it was seriously hurting me 8O

JBL subs are sweet without breaking the bank... so are Kickers. I've got a Soundstream 15", but they cost heaps. If you can, buy a Dual Voice Coil sub, it'll be far more versatile if you want to upgrade or rewire your system later. JL audio are damn nice and so are Rockford Fosgates!

and if you can find it, phoenix gold also make some great subs. And as Burgandy has mentioned, JL Audio are also quite good. Worth mentioning are also the range of Cadence subs, seem to be pretty good bang for buck.
