could i use that amp without the subs? what about alpine type s subs will they be better than the xplod's? what's is the cheapest company that sells in car tv's? (but also has good quality) and do you have to have a special headunit for one or can u run one seperatly? ALSO what is the best brand i,e panasonic, clarion, sony, alpine????????????????????????????????????

You know my opinion of Xplod... they practically sell it in service stations now its so common and basic. but Mark is right, you need a ballsier amp to run that sub for sure. It'd be ok for the 6x9's but then it is less powerful than your headunit so.... If you want to do it on a budget, try Audioline amps... ok so they aren't name brand but they do go pretty hard for power and seem to produce a nice clean sound.

i use an Audioline amp in mine... never ever had a problem with it. Its a 4x150watt rms amp thats got 2 channels bridged into the kicker, then the others are for the front.

Yeah, my88vl is dead right. Xplod's suck bum and the system you posted will sound gay. You'd be way better off running a cheap but powerful amp (like Audioline or Boss Audio). get pioneer, JL audio or JBL 6 x 9"s. These brand 6 x 9"s have a really nice rounded sound to them... the best in my opinion. But then again, the type of sound that you are after will dictate what speakers you get. Kenwood KFCM1620 6"-3way speakers sound really nice off a head unit. As for your unit, spend some extra and get a KDC1020 (kenwood) or an FXD780 (sanyo) head unit. Both are great value for money, offer MOSFET 50Wx4 amps and sound very clean. Pioneer units don't get MOSFET until the DEH5450, so it's prolly over your spending ideals. BTW, sony subs seem to be ok actually... for their price

can you mix head units with speakers? etc.... or is that even a more bad idea? say if i had a pioneer headunit , kenwood splits......? and alpine type s sub?

yah mix and matching is cool, should actually make it sound better, cos some brands are better at something, then someone else. BurgundyCalais, the pioneer DEH3450 comes has MOSFET and is a 50x4 headunit, i got one in my car, its not a bad unit at all. at the moment they are around $400ish but i saw one on sale for $300 today. I baught mine back in march at about $430 and now a question I just baught a Pioneer 12 inch sub in a box for $170 brand new, and im pretty sure its 300rms, what kinda of cheapish amp would i be looking at to power this thing?

**** yeah, i forgot about the 3450!! the 5450 is the first with stacker control... my bad ops: as for what amp, go for no name dude. With subs, you don't really need the cleanest power in the world. Just make sure the power output is at least 2x50wrms and bridgeable and you'll be sweet as ya nana. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Anybody would think i work for Audioline, but seriously they are alright. I had them recomended to me to make nice power, however they're not an amp thats built for clarity, which mind you is fine to run a sub.

JB HiFi usually stock them... the other day my local one had a 2x300watt one for around $199 but that was a christmas special so assume somewhere closer to $249.
