Could need a re-jet. What size engine is it and what size carby are you running? If its too big then thats your problem right there I would say. Anyways, let us know.

Best fix, convert to EFI, but if you're budget doesn't go that far, get the carby tuned. My car with the carby engine was good for 260 k's to a tank around town, so they are not that great and it was running sweet as then too. Now i get over 400 with the injection. Is it still the rochester?? There are a good carby and capable of supplying fuel to some pretty big hp numbers. I had one on my former Brock which made 273 at the treads, was way more driveable than when it had the Holley on it and made the same horsepower. sorry, i digress. Speak to you local carby shop for some advice. Cheers.

the roche's are a bit trickier than ye ol holley to tune, so have a hunt around for a workshop who actually knows specifically about those carbs, not just any bob mechanic and no, thermo fans are not a wise investment, find out why your car is overheating instead. the belt driven fan moves a ****load of air...

All up it prolly cost me a bit over $5K, but most of the stuff was brand new, like motor, heads, water and oil pumps, bolts, u name it. I'm still writing the tech article on the conversion for it on my site, so keep an eye out in a few more weeks as it's very detailed. You could do the conversion for a fair bit less using a wreck and depends n how mu h you do yourself. We should catch up one day and I can show you the conversion and have a good chat to ya about it. If u can, come to the Commodore Car Club of WA meeting on 6 Jan 2002, Troy Park Hall, Burke Dve Attadale 7.15 (meeting starts at 7.30) and I'll chat to ya then
