sup fellas, i just bought a new panasonic head unit for my blue berlina turbo (http://www.caraudioexpress.com/panasonic/CQ-DF402U.jpeg) and have decided that it looks mad at night. the only thing that lets the interior down is that my dash lights are green/yellow (stock) and faded as well. My question is.... has anyone had their dash lights changed, possibly to another colour? and is this difficult and/or expensive? Thanks Tris

recolouring the dash would most likly require new (or modified) dial covers .. the lights in the cluster itself are actually clear, the colouring comes from the plastic they shine thru in the dash itself. So coloured "condom" covers on the globes would just make a blue thru green look .. which would be both yucky and very dull. I've heard of someone who took theyr dash apart, pulled the guages out, and with a very sharp and accurate modeling knife, cut away all the lettering and parts that light up, masked out the edges from the back with something (not sure what) then used coloured covers on the bulbs, so the new coloured light shone thru. Dunno how effective it was as I never saw the finsihed result, but I'd guess it cold work ..

What you can do is with your dash their is theses 2 green palstic things that make it go green take them out, now what you can buy is some slives that fit over the globes a nice little fit they are. My hate has it on his Hj prim i am going to do it to my dash but i want to buy a berlina dash so yeah... That should make it red..

vlt06: it sure is dude i got some laying around somewhere i can't even remember where i put mine.. lol god i am dumb so times anyway.. i dont see the point in paying say $150 to get this time where their is a simple, easy and cheap way of getting it done...... Its upto the person who wishes to spend all that money just to get it done.... anyway what ever you do good luck with it it goes well with red snap on seat protectors hehehe Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I just picked up some red globe 'condoms' for my dash. I have only done the sattelite switches so far but they look mad I would have done the cluster already but i can't get it out properly. :x Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah red does look cool, i am waiting on getting a new dash first before i put mine in did you take the top piece off first then their should be 6 bolts 3 on either side that holds it down and take off all the cables at the back??

Thanks Zanjara. I figured it out tonight but is it the actual facia that is green or is their something behind it which needs to be taken out? :? Cause there is no sleeve on the globes. :x

After reading this topic and seeing a Mazda 6 with the red dash, i got my old dash out the other night and tried to see how this mod could work. I can see how to cover the globes with a plastic filter that looks easy, but the actual pieces of plastic that have the graphics on them are green and therefor i cant see how the filters would work if the plastic is not clear. If Zanjara could provide some info or pics on how to make this work for all of us to benefit that would be really cool. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
