dose any1 know if a vt air box would fit in a vl cause i was thinkin cause of the snorkle type opening thast goes up to the gap in the bonnet it would kinda be like doing a cold air intake with out cutting any metal. i wanna go this cause i have a pod at the moment which is kinda ****ty cause if i get pulled over i could be defected for it and i wanna get a bit of the cold air effect from using the vt air box which would be better than the vl one so dose any1 know if itll hook up.

Just take out your airbox, drill a dirty big hole through the metal underneith it - and an equally dirty big hole through the air box itself (on the bottom of the airbox). And then block off the front of the air box with something. Then feed a bit of piping (the agriculteral type stuff - but not the sort with holes all through it =p ) and have that ending right in front of the lower bumper bar. (angle it a little down other wise it might fill up with water when you drive through the rain While you're there, you might as well give your filter a clean and rip out the little mesh bits from eitherside of the AFM. You probably wont notice the difference but anyway! it all counts... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Gedday every1 i just brought an 1987 series II non-turbo calais about 2 weeks ago. Its ice blue, auto, lowered, with 17" VT SS rims and 3" exhaust. But dam, i need more mumbo. I want to know what i gota go through to connect a turbo to it, and im sik of hearing "its not worth it." I heard sumwhere that the series 2 calais has some of the turbo running gear, like the auto is the same. Im sure ill need a new diff though anyway, i pretty much have no clue, but could sum1 who knows, plz tell me what i need to convert it, and a rough price for second hand parts cheers!! azza

azza u should do a search theres alot of info on that. hmmm but the point of the vt style air box is that u dont need to cut the metal so u cant really get defected for it but with the more common cold air set up that just about everyone sems to run im pretty sure if they saw it they would defect you for it.

yes, your not supposed to cut any of the metal away as it "deteriorates strength during an impact"... mine already has the hole there (from previous owner), so i'll just end up using that anyway...

Azza, I think you'll find that the NA calais will still have NA running gear, just that all series II VL's have the same block as a turbo motor. Meaning that you have the water coolant and oil return lines in the block ready for the turbo to be bolted on.
