Someone has done this post b4.i heard and seen some late 86 vl's that had black door handles but were ser 1.Brads RB26 VL is march 87 and is series one, damianf's VL is april 87 and ser 2 and mine is may 87 ser 2, so i take it somewhere about there they changed. As for the V8 it was somewhere around oct 86 coz they had to change the V8 motor from leaded to unleaded. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Ignore the door handle colour, that isn't reliable after all this time. FACT: All 1986 VLs are series 1. All 1988 VLs are series 2 The change-over was definitely in 1987,....... July I think. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

The sourounding piece of plastic around the middle aircondtioner vents, will be black if its a series 1, it will be your interior colour if series two.
