I had some faulty wiring going to the low pressure fuel pump
So i just spliced from the connector of the HP fuel pump to the LP fuel pump connectors.
This works the both tanks work...
I turn the car on its starts... then it starts coughing and ****tering.. like there isn't any petorl but it can sit at idle just missing this beat for as long as u want.
But if u put the accelerator down it starts coughing and spluttering really bad. Like it is not getting enough petorl, i listened to both the tanks working and they are pumping.
I changed the tank yesterday and i've had these troubles since.
I'm thinking... maybe some dirt was in the new tank but i swished petorl around in it... but i still think maybe there is some dirt in the line blocking the fuel filter.. and its only surging petorl through when it can.
Or maybe the way i have spliced the wires is wrong and there isn't enough power going to each pump so one isn't functioning proplerly.
So would any body have idea or want some more information incase i haven't explained it in detail enough ?
Also anyone know where the joint of the power and ground wire of the HP and LP pump met ?
Coz they join somewhere... then split into
1. Power wire / ground wire for HP
2. Power / ground for LP
if i knew where this was i would splice it and run it proplerly.
Another thing is there any way to check if they fuel filter is blocked ? can i remove it and drain it, flush it and put it back in and see if it made any differance.
Coz if it did it would most probably be the problem
Thanks
disconnect the outlet of the filter and run a length of hose into a container, see if the pumps / filter are flowing properly. the Gregories manual has a flow rate for the std pump (x amount of litres per minute etc) but if the flow seems o.k. just looking at it, the car should idle fine. have you changed / played with the lines to the regulator?
You may need to get a pressure gauge on the fuel rail to check it that way.
Nah haven't played with the regulartor lines... i get a feeling but pumps are working... just that one is lacking some how..
But i think i will check the fuel filter first.. coz i know it would have picked up some type of containmates from the other petorl tank i put in... so maybe its clogged
Yeah well... the flow rates are
HP pump 1L/30seconds 230/270kpa
LP pump 1L/30seconds 20/40kpa
So ur saying get a container and tube... connect the tube off outlet of the filter and test to see if its pumps 1L in around 30seconds ?
And if they do it means that i'm getting correct fuel amount coming from LP.. HP and thru the filter ?
Then get a pressure guage and check if the pressure coming thru that wire if the right amount ?
And if it trace it back.. to b4 filter then keep on tracing it back until problem is found ?
If you dont get the right flow rate when you test it, take out the filter and test it again, that will tell you if its the filter. Put a guage on the supply hose to the fuel rail and see what pressure you are getting there.
Sounds like the same problem I've got, I replaced my Fuel Filter and it didn't make it any better, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter how your Fuel Pumps are wired up as long as they're recieving power...
Well, yes it goes... However when I'm driving slowly (Such as pulling out of driveways, Lights, Taking off in General) the engine sounds like its struggling and not getting Fuel... Its on and off though, the other day it was impossible to get it out of my driveway because it kept stalling, other days its alright, however the problem is consistently there, just sometimes worse... :?
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
I have no idea what it is or what it could be... I've heard it might be the Fuel Regulator however it could be anything, AFM, Injectors Etc... They all play a vital role in keeping the engine running...
