well i had my bday, and some friends got me these rice pedals
they're quite nice actually.
so i put em on today, the actual pedals. (look good)
now they're suppose to be plugged into a 12V Battery (as they light up)
so they have one lead for 12V battery and one for the ground, i think. (one red one black)
does this mean i hook it upto the car battery?
if so, how do i actually do this?! LOL

WHAT!? 8O :?
pedals that light up! - never heard of em... arn't you going to have your feet on them!? oh well what ever -- hehe
anyway yeah, just run a couple of wires to your battery will be the easiest, if you are lucky there may be a hole in the firewall already (pull back the carpet to have a look) and put a fuse within 25cm of the red wire connecting to the battery itself.
(black = negative, red = positive)

Get a multimetre or testlight and find a switched +12V wire under the dash to tap into. It will save you running wires through the firewall and will already be fused. Using a switched supply will also stop them being on all the time and save you some flat batteries. Could even get power from the lighting circuit so they come on when you turn your lights on.

i duno if its the right voltage but the wire that connects to the switch to switch the interior light on/off might be good because then it might only come on when the headlights are on or a door is open. actually if u ran it off the headlights switch would prolly be pretty sweet unless u want them on all the time but yeah i spose u'd only want them on at night.

The other thing you could do would be to tap into the back of the cigarette lighter plug. Its 12 volt and then all you need to do is drop a switch in there.
Thats all i've done for my footwell mounted ones and works fine. Then with the switch you can chose when you want them on or off.

dose any1 know if the wires to the boot light are 12 volt cause i was thinking of getting a round neon to go around my sub when i get it in on monday and that way the neon would only be on when the boot is open. sorry this is off topic i know but prolly not worth starting a new thread.
p.s- if no one tells me ill have to get off my slack arse and check with the multimeter

hrm... well, the boot light is pretty piss weak, so you may start blowing fuses if the neon requires much power to run it...
You could just rig up a relay to the light, and get it to switch the neon on from another power supply, whack one end form the chassis, and find a +(ve) output somewhere there, maybe even off your amp wire.

if i was to use the amp wire dose this take power away from the amp? prolly a dumb question but i dont know if it dose or not so yeah dose it. :?

The Boot Light runs on 12V, I wouldn't run it off your Amp Power, it would take power away from your Amp, whether its noticeable or not is another question, but that would mean it would be on all the time... :?

that would be ideal, having them come on when i turned my lights on.
BUT
i have no idea how to do this myself
hmm any ideas on who i shoudl get to do it? car electrician?
how much would i expect to pay?

01-12-02, 22:52 GMT+10#11 so i gather the neons run off 12volts so dose this mean that if the boot light gets 12 volts to the wires that go to it i could disconnect this and use the wires for a neon in the boot so then it would only come on when the boot opens.

02-12-02, 00:43 GMT+10#12 The boot light will be fine, i used to have a 2 footer as my boot light and worked like a treat.
Never killed a fuse or anything.

If your not comfortable doing it yourself than yeah get an auto sparkie to do it. Having them come on when you have your lights on is easy, id suggest running a wire from the relay box (tapping into the headlight wiring from the relay) through the firewall to your pedals and running all your pedal wires to that using a wire joiner. Run all your grounds from the pedals to anywhere where there is a screw/bolt going into the chassis (eg. bolts holding dash in etc.).

26-07-06, 21:24 GMT+10#17 So how did you get them connected up to the headlights?
Where does the red wire with the fuse on it go?
Also where does the red/black wire with the ring on the end of it go?
*To turn on with your parkers.
