Heya's I have a N/A VL, Auto, with 2.5 exhaust with extractors, i am due to change the cam belt and are considering getting an aftermarket cam, i want to get better takeoff performance and top and bottom end power, so an overall cam that will increase power i am looking at, is a stage 2 cam the go, or are custom cams the way to go!! my diff is standard and i'm not looking at changing this atm!! thanks

You can't get a cam that will increase top and bottom end power. You can get a cam from crow cams that will increase bottom end torque. Cams will boost your power curve in one area and detract in another usually.

a cam too big will be a snail off the line (trust me)

the only way u will get more down low and at high revs is if the car was equiped with VTEC (honda) also the new fords have it AU. the best thing that will probably be is a regrind cam, from wade cams. it will probably cost under $200 and it will give that bit more torque. or if u go for a big cam, i will be looking at putting in a manual.

My old mans Rover had a 3.9 EFI V8, and a hardcore top end cam. By the time you hit 6k in 2nd you were well above the national speed limit. On the other hand, it only just beat v6 commos off the mark. Line most cars up next to it on the freeway tho and it's seeya later. That's all i know about cams really.
