Hey All - I have seen this idea set up on a vl - and thought it was quite smart so i thought i would share. a nice way to set up a intercooler spray is to simply use your motor from the water switch which puts water onto your windscreen, all you do is remove the hose and run one from the washer fluid( which you fill with plain water of course) mechanism straight down to your cooler where you set up some sort of spray - each time you hit the button for your washer fluid - zzzzzzz intercooler spray here we come...... just some food for thought - Cheers

i recon make a frame full of dry ice for thrash days. costs like $3 for a kilo of the stuff. buy it in the cubes and devise a way to hold it (i.e. fold chicken wire the same size as the cooler and layer the ice inside). position it infront of the cooler... freeze the air before it hits? I know they do it on rally cars with top mounts like the sti cooler.. they just put it on top to freeze the metal vanes. the other possibility would be to put it in the air box..? (as insulate to freeze incoming air) - but don't leave it in the open in your intake as it releases co2.

unless you're racing really hard like track work, the water spray really has little to no effect except that you're cooler and engine bay gets dirtier quicker.

water sprays for ic are not for making your car go better but for stopping your car run worse once it starts to get affect by heat soak, they are proven to be useful.

BTW where would you buy dry ice anyway? Ive read a similar thing like that for methanol/water injection on a turbo intercooled mini (yeah with original engine too hahahahah ) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

you can get it from ice works in the city. dry ice bombs are fun Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah i'm pretty sure they used to wack dry ice in front of the radiators on formula one cars on the grid before races to stop them overheating... it obviously works.. but i think like turboluke said its more to keep the temps at a reasonable level rather than cool the air like heaps.

all the ice places make it, but u have to drive far out to get it. cannington theres a couple of places. if u know anyone in fishing or medical they'll know exactly. ice'd be more of a preventative than a cure. if u freeze the vanes of ur cooler how would it overheat in the first place? and yea, dry ice bombs r good! we used to use it in science at school. wrap it in paper towels and rush off after class to find a 600mL bottle. whole school used to hear it at lunch when u actually had enough ice to make it go! ahh the memories.

an easy way to setup up a water spray for the cooler is to get a hobs pressure activated swtich and put it inline with the water pump in the water reservoir. Set it for say 2 psi or whatever, and everytime the pressure to the switch reaches that, the circuit is closed and the water pump is activated.. that way you can have both hands on the wheel and concentrate about driving Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
