Hey guys. I want to run my VLT up to 15psi. Don't want to fuff around with the fuel so probably want need monster cooler.
Just wondering on everyones thoughts of running a RX7 Series 4 cooler. Might have got a hold of one in good nick. will this run 15psi ok?

Is the intercooler from the RX7 a topmount or a front mount? If its a top mount you might have some fun trying to adapt tubes for it because I really dont think you are going to be able to "top mount" on a VL. Would have to get a bonnet scoop so air would flow over it and you probably wouldnt be able to close the bonnet.
I have read to that the RX7 OE coolers are fairly flow restrictive so just cause you cram 15lb through, doesnt mean its going to come out the other side. Finally make sure your fuel system can handle that much flow, cause lean out is a bitch when it makes the engine go BANG!!!

I think ive heard around alot that @ around 14psi the stndard VLT fuel system starts to fall behind. Id get it tuned on the dyno for 15psi with ur new cooler (if its frontmount) to make sure everything is in ok shape.

yeah chuck it on the dyno when you get the cooler and just wind the boost up until it leans out then wind it back a little and thats your max hehe.

dont worry about the sIV cooler man, do yourself a favour and buy a decent one designed to flow that much pressure.

Well, I've ended up getting a series 6 cooler- ran on the twin turbo 190kw mid 90s rx7.
Flow shouldn't be a problem for 15psi- 2.5" inlet and outlet (plus I figure it will be equal[at least] to the AVO stage 1.
I read Autospeed article on 2nd hand jap coolers and they ranked the s6 just behind the trust cooler but the heatsink wasn't as good.
Can you get a stock ecu tuned?
