Dear All, Here are the first shots of the new Rajab calais being built by the Rajab brothers. As you can see it is again a harliquin calais, but this time a full on race car that is nearing completion. At the moment its only got a mild engine in which is standard pistons and rods, and a few bolt ons like a nizpro plenum, big turbo on extractors etc. They're not expecting big things with this setup (10 second passes?) but then the big engine will be bolted up and it looks like this could be the first VL into the 8s. The car looks much better than in these pics as the whole entire car has been smoothed and painted harlequin inside and out (Rollcage included). Many thanks to Alan for permission to use the pics of the new car, JETVL for the information and emailing these photos and whoever took the photos. Regards, Sin Rajab Calais Image 1 (http://www.axg.net/gg/ct/images/rajab/rajab1.jpg) Rajab Calais Image 2 (http://www.axg.net/gg/ct/images/rajab/rajab2.jpg) Rajab Calais Image 3 (http://www.axg.net/gg/ct/images/rajab/rajab3.jpg)

This thing looks awesome, and very good to see that the Rajab family are working towards a goal after the tragic accident. Congratulations to all involved.

That car is going to look crazy when it's finished Notice the custom rocker cover looks mad with the oil filler cap in the middle. Is this the same engine out of the old calais Hope they break into the eights, would be fantastic considering the death in the family, would be a fitting tribute to the Rajab Family. well done can't wait to see it finished and racing.

That looks F*%^in insane, these guys are unreal and have great taste when building a car. I mean its 1 thing to build a racecar, anybody can slap together a racecar as JPC and Ben Vs shown already with their 2.. BUT to build 1 with mirror straight paint and panels aswell as the friggin floors and cage detailed to suit the outside,Faaaark this by far has to be the best VL Racecar out there to date, and i cant wait to see it in action in the flesh(Any idea Sin) good on them for bouncing back and doing it for Albert who im sure,s looking down with pride.. From what i know they were the 1st VLT owners into the 10s then the 9s and more than likely now the 8s, it will be interesting to see how they,ll fair on a level playing feild now with the other Racecars from the other VLT workshops....Good luck guys.. P.S Ooopps i forgot, and ALSO the owners of Australia fastest TRUE Street Registered VL Turbo(RAJAB Calais)..

FARK... that is the sweetest vl ive ever seen! 8O i dont know how people can reply such.. mature, sedate posts... when they see a car like this i got a shiver down my spine when i saw these pics - a definate good shiver i cant wait to see this car in action... this car with a little help of CHASME has brought me back to the idea of a VL after i was temporarily swayed. big thumbs up to the rajabs! Yes thanks sin, the cars coming along very quickly not much to go now, its only got a puppy engine in it to start with, just to sort the chassis out and make sure it runs nice and straight i,d say by the time JPCs cars out next time it should have somthing to be very worried about, especially now its a much better comparison car weight wise, the only thing JPC have on this car is tubs, as this is still untubbed running a smaller tyre...JET BTW there will also be hopefully another 2-3 sub 10sec VLs coming outta there aswell over the unfolding months, aswell as a RB30 TG Gemini...

Yeah I've seen a late model Gemini fitted with an RB30et last time I was down at P.e.t, They basically cut the whole firewall out and had to rework the transmission tunnel to fit. Looked kind of an ok fit but there was no engineers reports to be done on the car, so bad luck if the guy get's done over by the cops and EPA. I've also seen a little white Mazda 1300 four door fitted with an RB30et and 5 speed as well, it was at the Shepparton Spring car nat's a couple of years back and had a custom plenum and big intercooler, and boy could this thing rip some mean 360's. The owner actually sold it not long ago to some guy in St Albans and it has'nt been seen since probably been stripped down for parts. The Rajab's new race car look's good and should pull the times, And at least the Rajab car will have a decent body and paint compared to that JPC car it has the roughest bodywork I've seen on a racecar, the Panel beater who did that car should be shot. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i remember talk ages ago that the Rajab's were building a flat out race car and all that before the accident. Is this the car that was being referred to?

I was thinking that this could have been started before the accident too. It would take a hell of a lot of man hours to put something like that together, either they are working their asses off, or they started before the accident. If they are just working their asses off, good on them Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

if you look at the roof of the car, and body in general you can see a ****LOAD of dust... so i am pretty sure this shell had been done ages ago.. though someone in the know can confirm it
