Running aviation fuel in an N/A......How would the car take this being standard with only minor mods (zaust, cold air intake and adv. timing)?????
What would be needed for it to run it if it wont run off avgas to start with???.....sorry i dunno much about avgas.....its just i have plenty of drums of it (about 10 20 litre drums) lying around in my garage for our race car....

dunno about running your car off avgas... but what kind of race car do you have?

Yeah an n/a VL should run on avgas....... for about 20seconds..... i aint no expert but i do know that avgas burns at preety high temps and the compression is far to great for a stocky..... If ya want that power probably safer and cheaper to get a small NOS kit, engine will last a little longer....

oic. I suspect ill be looking out for burnt valve seats after a short time of running eh?
What about running 50/50 PULP/AVGAS.........how willl this combo handle???

oh, and our race car is....wait for it.....a Datsun 1200 hatch. Engine 1400, totally reworked, we are running about 11:1 ratio, electronic ignition, blah, blah, not sure on what else running gear wise cuz i wasnt at home when meh dad built it up.....runs off pure avgas....

I know of a bloke that runs 50/50 Avgas in his harley. Ask Mr.VL he should know more about that.
I really wouldn't think Avgas in an atmo would be good for it, avgas burns at very high temp for the point of not being too cool at high altitude in a plane.
Anyway i would only go probably 25/75 Pulp/Avgas

I ran Avgas in my N/A vl, it had about 10% PULP.
I only used 15 litres of the stuff and advanced the timing very far (without a timing light) and it didn't ping cos its avgas aye.
PROS:
It ran very well and definitely performed a tad better, I'd only rate the performance gained as similar to a cold air intake or something minor like that though.
CONS: much much lead......this is bound to wreak havoc on numerous things in the VL that were never meant to see lead. If caught I think the fine is above $100, 000. dont ask me how theyd catch you though. My fuel lift pump is now very noisy, sounds a little blocked maybe. Engine still sweet, no problems.

20-10-02, 03:41 GMT+10#13 Im pretty sure ya not supposed to run Avgas on a vl coz vls run on unleaded and the lead in avgas burns out ya cat converter.
Thats why leaded cars dont have cat converters
My car has a 2 1/2 inch pipe through my stock cat so it should be right either way

20-10-02, 14:16 GMT+10#15 ahh yes true true......didnt think of the cat  Ill take off my hiflow cat and put on my old gutted cat if i do end up running some avgas......oxy sensor needs replacing anyway, so ill buy a new one then run it with my old one still in, run all the fuel out and put new one in....
I wont be running pure avgas, ill be mixing say 25%avgas 75%pulp....
