Hey
Has anyone had any problems with their Handbrake not catching when you engage it??
Im guessing the Teeth are worn.. but sounds like theirs plenty of meat there..
If it needs to be replaced, has anyone done it before??
Is it a Major job??
Roughly how much would I be looking at in Parts??
Thanks
ANYONE???
ok, well I know the handbrake setup is only about $25
BUT my New question is:
How do I get the old one out and the New one in???
Would i need the car up on a hoyst to drop the old unit down??
or could I do it from just jacking the car up??
and how hard is it to get the thing out??
anyone know??
Any info would be great!
Thanks
yeah i got a similar problem my handbrake has always been stuffed, if i tightned it it would sometimes lockup when reversing or go tight with ppl in the back ! i took mine out tho the other day. You gotta take the carpet up to access 2 bolts on the passenger side, thn jack up the car and undo the cable , now simply maneouvre it out carefully try not to pull on the button or u will *** the spring up but if ur replacing it then juz rip it out!
good luck

reverse the car up on the ramps and get under - remove cable - replace cable...
I doubt the handbrake itself is cactus - probably just the cable..
if in doubt, buy a handbook from kmart with pictures/instructions...
my brothers handbrake on his VL doesn't even work, has to leave it in gear when parked or it will roll away hehehehe
to many handbrake turns....
