A couple of you were talking about replacing the standard 4"ers in the front dash. Have any of you done this?? I have tried to get into where they are but havent succeded. How do i get the speakers out??? NB: Mine are ****ed cuz i ran them to my headunit and put it up full bore, they flapped and flapped away until they blew.... LOL....

What you need to do is pop both vents out on each side of the dash and there should be 2 holes in the bit that divides them. Get a phillips head screwdriver and stick it up through the holes and there is a screw at the top which you need to take out. Once you have both screws removed the cover should just lift off. hope this helps a bit.

yeh VL1986 is right, you have to pop the vents out, unscrew the screws in there and then the plastic cover over the speakers should come off with a bit of a pull... take about 10 mins at the max... 8)

I presume it was the air vent that you broke? You need to use a small flat screwdriver and lever the vents out from the side.

well thats wat i did, the bottom popped out easy but the top half seems in rock solid.... :? It seems it has something like double sided tape holding top half in? seems some compound as such is there....sticky....

You've got to get the top one out, the screw is right above it. I also snapped one of the arms off the left top vent. It can be a real **** to get out but just keep trying cos the standards suck. It's worth it.

when he says lever the vents he means the actual bits that turn to re-direct the air. Sorry if this was stating the obvious but i made this mistake, thought i might mention it.

yeah thats what i thought to start with but then i realised that that wasnt the case, but im talking about the actual vent piece wont come out, i just swivel it around far enough so i can get into the screws (it swivels around 90 degrees so i can get in the pretty easy) thanks for all the replies pplz, im putting the new ones in a soon as i get the $$$

you need to put the screw driver in right in front of the pivot axle and twist so that you push the axle in, it is made to do this, doesn't mattter now but thought i'd mention it.

You should also use new Wiring when you install them, as the stock wiring won't work well and it is dangerous to use with the new Decks... :?
