Difference between series 1 or 2 motor?

I was just wondering if any one could tell me or send me to a web page that tells me where to look if my vl motor is a series 1 or 2. It's a '87 non-turbo calais. P.S. what if it is a series 1? how much extra $$ to convert it to a turbo? thanks.
