Fitting T66 turbo

I'm going to fit a custom built T66 turbo to my mates VL. It has been built to bolt onto the standard VLT exhaust manifold, though there are a few concerns I have. Obviously the induction setup will be different, as the mouth of the turbo is 4", which is too big for the existing pipe to the airflow sensor & airbox. I'm going to set up a 4" pipe (with a 45degree bend) from the turbo to a K&N Pod filter and relocate the airflow sensor to the intercooler piping. I also have to block the water line, as it is no longer required. My questions are.... a) will the factory oil lines suffice, or will he need a braided line. If so, who can do this line? (in melbourne) b) will a spacer be required between the turbo & manifold. A bloke with an R31 skyline said he needed this spacer for clearance. Will this be the same in a VL. Thanks for any help.

With your oil lines, you can get them made at pirtek, it cost me $60 to get a new one made up with a banjo bolt at each end. I dont know about fitting a T66 turbo, but I just fitted up a VG30DET turbo to my VL and the exhaust manifold bolted straight up, I would imagaine if the turbo was too much bigger (I dont know what physical size it is) that the exhaust and compressor wheel covers would foul on the exhaust manifold, on the VG30 turbo there is about 5-6mm clearance between covers and manifold. Good Luck

You will need a spacer plate madeup as the tubo will be to close to the exhust manifold, as for the oil lines should be fine.

Not wrong, make sure your fuel system is up to scratch, and consider another injector in intake manifold....

All is going good. I've got everything together and will start on it tonight. I've had a look, and it appears like I'll have to sacrifice my aircon. Oh well. I'll just have to stick my head out the window when on boost. Cheers to everyone who posted. By the way, I won't be running extra boost until the the Motec goes in, so I'll avoid punishing the fuel system. I'm not chancing running lean, as I don't want to fork out for a rebuild.
