I have a 1988 VL Calais Series 2 non turbo. OK first thing, I live in melbourne and am trying to find a place in the eastern suburbs that does auto to manual conversions for vl calais. i would like to get a reco supra 5 spd or a reco mx7. how much should i roughly be paying for the whole conversion? Secondly I took my car into Pedders suspension and was talking to the guy about getting most of the bushes replaced with new rubbers/urethane also a panhard rob, front strut brace, sports ryder coil springs, bearing plates (cos they're ****e atm) GSR cartridge shocks (front) rear already has comfort gas shocks. is it worth getting all this done? is there anything i should get done differently? whats everybodies opinions? Thirdly i'm looking to make a custom air intake, what should i do? i was thinking of taking the box off and getting a 3" piping to a pod filter under the front bumper? is it legal to do that? Fourthly where is a good place to get a new computer for my VL from in eastern suburbs of melbourne? Any info or help anybody can give me would be great Thanks in advanced. -=whiteshadow=- Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Well not having done it myself i wouldnt know, but i would also be interested as i will be doing similar to mine lowering it about 1 1/2" rear and 2" front. Yeah you could go with that idea or you could keep the standard air box and block off the snorkel and cut a hole in the bottom and the guard and running PVC pipe to behind the front bumper....Both ways are illegal cause you are cutting through the body of the car but the PVC pipe idea is less noticable as you keep the standard box. POD filters are illegal all together unless they are enclosed...

I did a conversion in my vlt from auto to manual and it cost me about $2,000 with a new clutch. These guys are in Clayton. Its a wrecker yard but they have mechanics and that. They are okay, but they put a crap gearbox in the 1st time and i took it back and they put in a better one. This box is okay. Its just a standard VLt one. I rang everywhere to get this done and these guys are the closest I found that actually had gearboxes. These boxes were hard to find. These other guys in Sunshine did it as well, but too far from my house.

Its a total waste of cash putting an MX7 box into a n/a car, they are heaps bigger and heavier and very expensive to buy. You can get a whole n/a kit for about $600
