This is purely a opinion based question however - ill put my 2 cents in dont worry about a POD Filter (even though i do have one) anyways - invest in a nice hiflowing air filter from autobarn or something - approx 60 bucks i fink for a good one. Close the hole in the front of the airbox completely, Cut a hole Directly and the bottom of the airbox, and then cut another hole striaght under it on the car itself. -Direct Cold Air thats the choppy way hehe - other way ? Buy A pod and make a 3 inch pipe and run it out underneath the front left bumper side. Thats the time consuming time - hehe - its all about personal preference - and to keep all the underbonnet hot air away from the the intake of the pod/filter Cheers mate - Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

for a k & n filter you would be looking at around $130 from autobarn. Since pod filters are illegal i strongly agree you keep the current air box and cut hole in it like petros suggested. This way is still illegal since you are cutting a damn hole in the body but its not visible unlless u take the air box off. If that is not enough make sum piping from the front spoiler and direct it straight through to the bottom of your air box.

dont bother with a K&N unless your cold air set up is dodgy and you need the extra protection from all the extra crap you will suck up with a cold air 'vacuum cleaner' The factory filter flows very well and only causes less than 4% of total intake restriction. Check autospeed.com's article on the vl turbo intake if you want cold air then either try and keep snorkel as high as possible behind front bar vents, otherwise use a shround and wrap it around headlight so that only cold air is drawn

My setup is the same as what they had done on the autospeed website. I cut a 100mm hole in the bottom of the box and in the guard then run a 45degree angle then a straight piece of PVC pipe to under the front of the bumper....

thay aren't illegal but u need a permit to run one. some cops r pretty dumb, a bloke i know had a cop ask why he'd polished the radiator! but a pod filter is pretty obviously non factory and non enclosure is the offence. why bother? the autospeed article says it all. a good panel and a hole in the box is the way to go.

Yeah, you need to cut a hole in the bottom of the airbox, which means u need to continue that hole through the guard underneath the box as well to run the pipe through.... anyone had trouble with sucking up crap from the wheel arch or from the bumper ?? thinking about doing this on my car (airbox is complete, metal underneath already has the hole cut in it for me - how nice), but am a bit weary of stones, water, leaves, and other such crap on the roads being sucked up and fudging the airfilter / afm / engine...

would putting a bit of fly screen across the opening of the cold air intake some of that stuff?

hmmm i was thinking some flyscreen - flyscreen isnt all that restrictive is it ??? and would stop alot of the bigger crap getting in - the smaller crap will be filtered by the air filter... im just worried that i'd pick up a sizeable rock from the road that would go through the air filter pretty easy (or a piece of broken glass or anything else that could be on the road ready to be sucked up)

I haven't had anything big go in there, the grill thing on the from bar keeps most of it out, but after about 6 months my air fliter was covered in that much crap I was going through an extra 5 litres per 100km's

if you get a k&n panel filter i dont think much could get through the mesh on that. i had cold air and a standard filter and after a long drive in the really wet weather the paper filter was pretty damp and flimzy. thats why im putting a k&n in this car.

Nah, you shouldnt have any trouble with **** flying up in there, if you are worried then just leave the first mesh screen on the afm, so if by anychance you get a stone through the filter it will just hit the screen and wont **** your afm. But you shouldnt have a prob.....I have a prob with the filter getting damp but thats about all, and plus thats mainly because i live in tassie....lots of rain all the time

i have a pod filter on my vl its an n/a (the filter was on it when i got it) i was just wondering if there are any set ups that would be worth while doing with a pod filter. also how much better or worse is it to have a pod filter over a standard filter. (for how much worse dont say cause there illegal cause i know that)
