I have an N/A Auto and it seems that the fuel gauge changes ****in heeps.
i put 1/4 in the tank the other day and all on a flat road it read, 1/4, empty, just under 1/4, then a 1/4 again.
is there any way to fix this as its hard to know how much i have in the tank
thanks :?:
i don't think you'll be able to fix it they're just like that. Temperature also affects it. When the line hits red fill up! Don't leave it to the next day either because they always read lower over night.
Mine likes to vary a lot when turning corners too
What I always do, is fill her right up, then reset that odomoter thing, and then judge how much fuel i've used by how many km's i've done. System works good, except when the odometer forgets to work.....
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
My fuel gauge is a bit inaccurate too, ill have 3/4 of a tank and it would change between having less than half and then back to 3/4 and overnight it also shows lower the next day! When mine hits red it ends up under red but the tank still lasts for a good 30-40kms with the needle sitting under red!
Its a commodore thing....
as soon as i leave the lights even gently it drops a 1/4 then slowly climbs back up.
And there is this one weird spot on the way to work it always drops right down even when dead flat. It must be the height above sea level or something scientific like that.
My gauge seems to be getting worse. i could have 3/4 or 1/2 a tank, and the gauge will read that, then say 10 mins later when i look at it, its below the red line, then after a while, some times, 15 mins, it will read close to the proper amount. must be a dodgy sender in the tank i think
That does sound like the sender is playing up Hornet... maybe the float has come loose or something.
Most commodores do have this same problem though.
Here's an interesting question... have any of you guys suffered Vapour Lock in your VL's?? i doubt the southern states would but i know up here my old mans Saab has the problem, and so does my bunky Hyundai... its a heat problem.
