i dont know about installing extractors but im assuming you would have to buy a gasket and some heat glue. yeah the bolts and *******s when they snap. i took the heat shield off to give it a paint and when i put it back on, i thort i better tighten it good incase it comes off. *snap* ****! then again *snap* ****! i think its the constant heat that they are under has weakened the bolts after then 16 or so years. just be gentle.. dont overtighten! only go handtight

This exercise can cost you more money than you might expect. Get an exhaust mob to do it, that way if they break a stud, they have to go and fix it. A friend of mine managed to get my cylinder head off without snapping any studs, he said that they usually snap once the nut is about half way down the stud and starts to tighten up, when they do that, its time to back off. Its a tricky thing that needs experience to get right. make sure u use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts back onto the studs, because otherwise your manifold could leak inbetween the head. You'll find that out when you hear it. Its an easy process with some hidden and hard problems put it that way.

remember to soak the crap out of the studs... use CRC... WD40!!! jsut spay the **** out of them for about a month before hand. everytime youy stop at work or at home... pop the hood and spay the studs... yeah you car will smell like ****.... but it's better than snapping all 12 studs! you'll find that 1 or 2 studs are already gone! i did... many other poeple have too... just have a good tap set.. and a good drill bit to bore the rest of the stud out if the head! and remember to HAVE FUN!!! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

ive been driving mine around with a few snapped studs and i havent had any trouble as of yet. It justs sounds weird (a whistling noise) when you drive it cold and a slight tapping noise as well. After it has warmed up and the gasket has expanded, the noise goes away. I really gotta get this fixed sometime....

I went down to the local Exhaust shop the other day to ask about Extractors and they said it would cost me $290 Installed as long as none of the Studs snapped... 8O If they did, it would cost more for every Stud that broke, and they couldn't give me an approximate figure. Sounds a bit dodgy to me, but maybe its just something you can't avoid... :?

Yes, its something you cant avoid, your better off getting em to replace all the studs in it anyway. I think from memory my local exhaust place (one of em where i got my extractors fitted) cost me $10 + $5/stud after that, they ended up having to replace all the studs.
