Thinking of converting my stock VLT as auto has sh*t itself. MX7 conv. seems to be getting expensive (wrecker quoted $3000 - haha). Anyone done the Supra conversion? Any problems? Speedo gears? Shifter position? Best ratios? Clutch? Any comments appreciated. Thanks

By the time you do a supra conversion id say your going to be looking at close to $3k, look around for them, i bought one for $900

..I think just the bellhousing adaptor for the Supra box is around $500 from CRS - that doesnt include the gearbox etc. I'd buy a second hand MX7 and associated components for ease of fitment, if you can find it - and not from a wreckers, they are a rip off.

Hi if u are looking for a direct bolt up replacement box which is stronger and is better all round then get yourself a R33 GTST gearbox. They bolt straight up only mod necessary is the slave cylinder which is a piece of piss every thing else bolts up.Good luck

if you end up getting a supra box get a late model one , they are heaps better.

Slip yoke $100 Crossmember ? don't think I got a price. Could make my own. Speedo cable ? I have pedals & MC I thought I could do it for <$2k calais to4 me so I would need all the same bits as for MX7 conversion? How much are they? OVL087 you mean a twin turbo one? Thanks Mark

vl_ben: But was that the Turbo Supra Box (W58) or just the N/A supra box. As far as I have been told .... its rather critical that you get the W58 if your looking for a beefed up box.

late model twin turbo boxes are the way to go. as family friend has it behind his 300kw at the wheels v8, no dramas. Actually, the only thing wrong is that the clutch keeps on stuffing up. has about 550nm of torque though! it chewed through a brass button centerforce clutch in no more than a month, broke all the springs and rivets, and finaly the custom daiken clutch has clapped it now, lol. Great car to be in. Autospeed have an article for supra boxes... go the site, it has a table of boxen for cars as well.
