As weird as it sounds, the central locking doesnt let me lock the damn doors.
I go to lock them, and they open back up again.
Now, i dont know wtf happened as i locked them normal, but then when i got back in the car and drove home, they didnt lock, just kept on vibrating when you would try to force it and open the doors again.
thought it was a dodgy alarm install, but i unplugged the alarm and it was still doing it.
Maybe someone can shed some light on this? ill look at it in detail when i have time.
Thanks.

Nah i got the same problem... passenger side door refuses to close... so now i have to lean over and close it myself thru locking all the rest of the doors.
somethings a bit dodgy there... my dads brand new magna (well ex-magna -- now replaced by a VX ) did the same thing... ended up having to get a whole new computer for it... is the alarm new (it sorta sounded like it was) -- possibly something that is fixable, but I can't think what would cause it to do that :?

exact same thing happened to my mates VH, take the door trim off, and you'll see all the locking rods, try to lock your door and youll see that it just shake back and forward, all its doing is not going far enough to lock, you'll need to adjust the rod so that it goes all the way to lock
ok i know a couple of probs with central locking...
firstly as mentioned if the rods to the motors arent tight enough it wont pull the lock far enuf to lock/unlock... take the trims off as already said and play around with it tightening as necessary and maybe fixin the rods in place tighter with some silicon or something else....
ok 2ndly if its happening with a custom central locking kit in the front doors only when u have an alarm its possibly because of this:
u have 5 wires in ur 2 front door motors and only 2 in the rear doors:
u have a control module which alows for a remote control input (alarm keyless entry etc...) these are
1) +'ve lock input
2. +'ve unlock input
3) -'ve lock input
4) -'ve unlock input
Ok knowing this the central locking also has its different pulses to lock and lock, the alarm also has for keyless entry has ='ve and +'ve pulses that it sends to trigger this... without the alarm the kit would lock the doors etc.. by just pushin the front door locks to lock or unlock etc... but when u have an alarm the pulse it sends to unlock for instance clashes with the other pulse from the central lockin module to do the same thing hence cancelling each other out... makin the door unlock then lock again.
if this makes sense basically u have to unplug the 2 wires on both front doors (the 5 wire motors) which stops the locks bein lockable from in the car and only accessible via the remote (keyless), i think on my kit i unplugged the white and brown wire which were the 2 odd colours... ur rear motors will have 2 wires... the colour of the 2 wires stay plugged in also in the front doors, then u leave the red (power/battery) wire plugged in and remove the other 2...
ok hopefully some of this jiberish makes sense and helps someone... if u want more info just ask ey... cheers

Have you Jump Started the car lately? I've known of people not Earthing the Negative when Jump Starting Cars with Computers and the Central Locking refusing to work after...

my old calais didnt like unlocking the passenger door. sometimes it would unlock it but if you closed the door or something it would lock again and only open a bit (like when the door isnt closed properly). always had to unlock it myself, my car was lucky not to take a beating from my gf. funny when it happened in the rain and stuff though

I was thinking about getting some after market Central Locking for my VL Exec but hearing all the problems that people have been having I'm thinking its more trouble than its worth...

mine did that one day and kept trying to unlock. i think it got water in the terminals. try parking undercover for a day or 2 and see if it fixes itself. mine was fine after a day or so.
I found with a mates aftermarket central locking the sheer shock from the central motors hitting the limiter on your lock after time moved the little brass thing with srews in it.( Dont know what you call it)
being aftermarket they had too much throw for the vl door locks. Where the rod goes thru the little brass thing, i took the two screws out, bought two 4 fairly heavy springs and 4 collars (to fit onto shaft).
Now on the front two doors only make sure you put them on the shaft in the follwing order. Collar spring brass thingy spring collar.
Make sure your central locking motor is in the downmost position adjust the collars so the spring is just tensioned, do the same for the other way. (lock/unlock position)
I know its a pain but my mate has now had over 3 years from an aftermarket set with no problems. Not bad for less than 5 dolars worth of bits!
This will remedy the lock unlock situation alot of you get or bouncing hear it being called and also stop you wearing out you door lock mechanisms.

hey.........
check that the wires on the front doors havn't been crossed (on mine its the blue and the green wire) I accidently did this as i was in a hurry and doing it in very little light and the doors wouldnt lock.
