Recently purchased VX front brakes (calipers, discs, hoses).... Need the conversion hubs & apperently different hoses!!?? Anyone that has done this conversion: What did you pay for the hubs?? Did you have to use different hoses?? & finally & most importantly: Are you happy with the braking performance?? I ask due to the fact that a few brake places have told me a few nasty things about this conversion. Most significantly they have said that I will have a very low (spongy) pedal!!?? Others have told me that it is fine as long as I have the 1" master cylinder (which all VL turbos do) & others say that the booster/master can't push the two big pistons in these brakes. Are they just trying to sell me a booster/master set-up or is this true?? :?

Can't help you out but about the pedel, i fitted nissan 4 spots, pedel is low, spongy and hard (that is more than it used to be!). But braking performance is good! just took a day to get used to.

Ive got a couple of friends with this conversion and they use the 1" master cylinders and they are happy with it, apparently some people are fitting the vt quick fill master cylinder to their vl's too, speak to Peter @ www.hoppers.com.au, they sell these kits and he is very helpfull. carcrazy

I was told by DBA that the 15/16 master cylinder will be affected by the twin spot caliper conversion in regarda to pedal feel, but it will actually stop you better than the 1 inch master cylinder. I have heard of people doing these conversions and they have worked fine. Rare spares told me they sell just the hubs for $115 each, and sell the whole kit for over $500,as for the brake caliper hoses you do have to get the proper hose to suit your particular model.

HDT-HIfLOW How did you go with your conversion? I am looking into this also, and are interested what you did about conversion hubs and hoses. Did you chase up Rare$pare's?

Rare spares sell the whole kit which includes discs, calipers, conversion hubs & hoses for $500! I think this is the way to go. I got the calipers & discs very cheap, but by the time I get the rest I wil have only saved about $40. Not worth the stuffing around. BTW Rare spares don't seperate their kits A friend of mine recently did the same conversion & is very happy, so I'm going to go ahead with it after I drive his car, to get a better idea. I'll keep you posted................ Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

500 is cheap!! paid $320 for the hubs, $150 for certified braided lines. definately use the 1" m/s pedal feel and performance is a heap better with 300mm twin spots compared to std vlt brakes!!!! for an extra couple of hundred dollars upgrade to 330mm discs if you got 17" wheels, then the brakes are really awsm!!!!
