Hey Guys Been fitting a trimatic to my VLT int. It had an Jatco but thought i would put a trimatic in to c how it goes. Im having ass babies!!!! I purchased a conversion kit from the rod shop and was told it was a matter of unbolting the old tranz slapping the convererion paltes on and off i went!!! Dont b fooled guys its not that easy!!!!! The first hurdle i faced was getting the adapter plate on. To do this i had to hack the ass out of the tunnel (turbo side) to clear the end of the Adapter. This involved ripping up the carpet, getting under the car and cuttinga hole 100mX100m. Once that clearance was achieved and the dapter went on it was time to pull it back off then take the fly wheel off to get the sandwitch plate off. U will then find that the starter bolt holes are out by about 5mm on the sandwitch plate so u will have to drill them and get then to line up. Now time to see if the bell housing will fit. Ha i should be so lucky!!! Time to whip out the grinder and grind a few little bits not real big deal but a ball breaker! So thats all i have done for now but can also see that the trimatic xmember aint going to fit. Anyways guys has anyone done this conversion before? if so did you have the same problems with clearences and all that. If so post a reply i would be very interested to see what you went through. Also if anyone wants to know how the rest goes ill post it up for them. Regards....

Good old Rod Hadfield of the Castlemaine Rod Shop, You always have to modify his conversion kits to fit :x , I bought a Cortina V8 kit off him and fitted it to my Cortina and guess what none of it fitted up properly I had to modify ie, reweld and redrill and open up holes so it will fit up not hard considering I'm a Panel beater by trade, but it's a bit of a joke as the kits are supposed to be a direct bolt up and the main reason I bought the kit was I could not be botherd makeing my own up and to save time, don't be fooled I have spoken to a few other people who have used some of his kits, brakes and gearboxes and all were not totally happy with the product sold to them. Dragya, sounds like you scored a dodgey fitting kit have you phoned up Rod to discuss why holes are out of alignment and why you have to get the grinder out to grind a few "dags" off.

No bell housing available just an adaptor kit at the moment. The kits are machined A1 and the quality of the material is second to none. The only thing is that i dont recommend for just anyone to attempt. Its not as easy as they make it out to be, there is alot of grinding, hamering and drilling involved but they say that its all woth it in the end!!!!! Just have to wait and c! Regards....

..hmmmm joy! I just bought some gear off Rod myself for my conversion, chassis kit for the EH, engine mounts and lowered stub axles to suit VT Commodore brakes - lets hope its not too much of a nightmare to fit! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
