i went to an auto elec (coz i don't know ****) and asked if he could change my dash to have everything in it blue and he said no coz it's too much fiddling around. wat's with that? has anyone done it? it couldn't be that hard could it, i want to have everything that's lit up in there to be the same colour, like even the transmission lights (1,2,D etc) and the air con lights... help me out please! thanks

If an auto electrician tells a paying customer its too hard then it must be a **** of a job. Interesting idea though

i was gonna do that in my VK, but didnt get around to it.. all i was gonna do, is get some of that celafane ****, and stick it to the back of the instrument face, and basically do the same with the "transmission lights", and then get the same colour bulb for my autometer tacho... its not that hard really...

Doesn't the dash have a colour already in it? Like the parts where the light shines through are actually pre-coloured in the plastic itself?.

the cash is actually precolored already, so even if you put condoms on your lights inside, or use a blue bulb, it will only make the dash dim. Best thing to do is to buy or make a custom dash.

I did alot of research into this, no you cant really change the color opf the standard dash I couldn't find anyone that does a decent dash (in my opinion) for a vl, What you can do...... There is a thing you can buy called "electroluminecent sheets" (spelling) basicly they are a plastic sheet that lights up when you aply power, you need an invertor to run them, but they dont use alot of power, and it isn't just a standard 12 to 240V invertor, frommemory it is similar to a neon light invertor. Check out this page for more info http://www.zygo.btinternet.co.uk/offer007.html Then all you need to do is print out a dash that you have designed yourself, and stick/lay it on top of the E.L.S. check out this page to see see a guy making one, and Im not sure if he has finished yet http://russ.angrypacket.com/howto/carstuff/diy-indiglo-gauges/ good luck
