Goodaye all... when i change gears from reverse and then to drive, it makes a bit of a cluncking sound... and when im coasting down the street and litely tap the accelerator, u can hear/feel from what it sounds like under the car and small clunk as if it forgets to spin for a second... how can i check that there is a prob with the uni joints? and is there any problems getting them replaced by myself? any hints or tips? tah

park your car somewhere flat. get underneath it , and twist/wriggle the tailshaft , if you hear a definate matallic knock from the unis or c/b , then that is your problem. you said it freely spins for a short moment , that sounds like ur box may be slipping. have u had a service on it , retensioined the bands etc. good luck

i also got a recond diff put in at the start of this year so i dont think it could be that. it would have to be the tailshat/unis thanx if it is them, are the parts expensive? and to replace them, is it simply undoing the bolts from each uni and swapping them with the other uni joints? no gaskets?

I had similar clunking noises coming from my car, changed the uni's and now all is sweet!! definately chelk them out it only cost me like $60 to replace back and front ones. Ohhh btw i didnt have to get my tailshaft rebalanced or anything maybe its coz i got a 1 piece? i dunno it might be different for u guys running 2 pieces. -Jay

hey i also have a clunky noise problem well to me i feel its more of a squeeking noise coming from somewhere in the front or the tranny i dunno i occassionally hear squeeks and sometimes i hear it on a rough surfaced road and somtimes on a perfect flat road it squeeks ... but the squeeks dont frequently occur it just occurs when it feels like it or ussually on a rough surfaced road... so is this a uni/tailshaft problem or a tranny problem? and how do i retensioned the bands? and whats the use of retensioning the bands? to avoid slippage? and what are bands? (gears?) sorry for the muilty million questionare :P
