I wanted to fit a couple of front VR seats to my VL a while back but was told that the VR seats use different rails to the one's in the VL's.
I'm guessing that it'd be the same for the VS seats.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

You may have some issues with the rails actually.
I can go and get some measurments if you like? and can grab a few happy snaps.

sounds like a nice idea, I'm getting a VL SL soon but would prefer the VN or higher style seats... could you take the VS rails along with the seat and put that into a VL?

When i get home from work i'll go out and get some measurments for you, also some photo's of how they mount and so on.
I think the VS Rails will be wider than the VL seats, but i guess you could get them welded on.

Ive seen VN/VS front seats in VLs many times. I think they are pretty much a straight bolt in job provided you swap the rails over..... so ive been told. With the rear ive been told that you can get the VS seat to fit if you bend the framework underneath in certain places, but still the VS is a wider car and dunno how well the seat would fit across the narrower VL body.

I was in a vx calais the other day and the back seats are like bucket seats.

30-04-03, 20:10 GMT+10#12 yes i have VR statesman front seats in mine.
i swapped the rails over and it went in no worries.
passanger seat sits on a slight angle because of the lump in the floor for the cat. i havent looked into fixing that yet because i cant be bothered yet, but i *think* i could fit the statesman cusion and backreast to the VL SII lower frame so its straight.

Did the VL rails bolt directly onto the VR seats, or did you have to make up adaptor plates?
Thanks

01-05-03, 13:38 GMT+10#15 as i said i bolted the rails straight on but the passanger one sits on a slight angle and i suppose you could make up some spacers for that if you really wanted to.

01-05-03, 15:44 GMT+10#17 every passanger i have asked about it says they dont notice sitting in it. i certainly didnt but i have only been in it for a second.
however i do notice its a bit closer to the seatbelt and b pillar than normal.

01-05-03, 20:35 GMT+10#18 are the VR Statesman seats different form normal commodore seats? I would have thought they would be the same which would mean that any seat VN-VS (VT?) would bolt in theoretically.

03-05-03, 19:43 GMT+10#19 The 88 model seats aren't too bad and they are similar to the VN seats.
I have a 1986 VL but I took the seats out of my 1988 VL I crashed which are better as the series 1 seats look daggy (like a VK as they are VK seats) and the 88 headrests are adjustable, but the 86 seats were in better nick.
I am looking at fitting VN-VS statesman seats into my VL as the leather types will be easier to clean and last longer than the VL seats, mine have tears in them and the threads have just worn away so need replacing.
That's corect about the sliding rails, they need to be swapped over to fit a VL.
