i ve got a 86 calais n/a , my plans are to hit the engine later this year what im thinking of is a hiflow t3, stage 2 cooler and different computer and bosch 600cc injecters running boost at about 15psi - i ve already got a turbo transmission, is this possible with abudget of around 3k or would this be better buying an vlt motor with a big question mark on it?? - also whats it like runnig a 3.9 ratio diff does itr rev its head of while on the free way????? thanks

This is gonna end up getting moved. But what you've described is pretty common. I dunno about $3,000 though...

all i can answer for u is that 3.9s cant rev that hard on the highway and will give u a bit more of a push off the line i run 4:11s in mine, rest is running stock motor, but its a 5 spd, sits at about 2500 rpm at 100 if u get a new diff, be sure to get ur speedo calibrated !!!

how much did that cost you to get a 411 ratio you reckon that would be reving much higher with a auto??

PSI_CHO: are you sure that you run 4.11s?? or that the rpm is correct? im pretty sure that ive got a 3.45 ratio for mine cause the people that had it before me wouldnt have changed the ratio and its 5spd and sits @ 2500 at 100kph. what do other people get @ 100kph? cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

there was a topic on this not long ago. i think the 5sp ppl said about 2500 revs @ 100kmh, id assume with 3.45s. auto sits at about 2100 @ 100kmh.

Quote: is this possible with abudget of around 3k or would this be better buying an vlt motor with a big question mark on it?? For the mods you've listed $3k is a bit short. A good aftermarket ECU, injectors and a tune on an already turboed engine will put you over $3000. $3k might get you a an RB30ET and enough cash to install it.

My Vl 5 speed sits at 2500 @ 100kph, Thats with the stock 3.45 diff. Been told by the guy i bought it off that its a MX7 box (have to check tho). Not that i think 5th gear is a diff ratio to the n/a box.
