Hey guys,
I dont no much about diffs so i thought i would ask. My VLT berlina has a single spinner & i was wondering wats involved in making it LSD. I think its a single spinner anyway because in the wet it tends to spin LSD but then in the dry it spins single. Whats casung this? Is this normal
Either your clutches in your diff are worn or its a single spinner. You will need to know what spline axles you have before you can get a diff. by the sound of it its a single spinner. LSD although can go like this if you have a tendcy to do doughys. You'd be better off taking it to a diff place and get them to look at it.
vlt came standard with 28 spline axles, but lsd was an option.
as long as you've got 28spline axles, it just means taking out the open centre and bolting in the new lsd centre. better done by a diff shop as its a pain to do yourself. expect to pay about $5-600 for the new centre and labour.
Yeah take it to a diff place because they have to change the differential shims either side of the center to make it align with the pinion properly, something to do with selective sizes(theres 28 different sized shims)otherwise you rebuild it youself and BANG!
Vl freaks exactly right it is very difficult to do your self even if you put/leave the same shims in the same place when you load the diff up it all shifts and become all out of wack, a good place will be able to load the diff up while still attached to the car (been told its the best way to do it)
